7 years of misery with this pool. What am I missing? Circulation?

OK. Started SLAM process yesterday. Removed light from niche so I could brush in there.
Thanks for the idea of letting the kids help with the testing. I didn't think they were capable of setting up the "vacuum to waste" properly but running some simple tests should be easy enough (and I suspect a little fun, for them. At least at first.)
We'll see.
Also, the question of my pool volume was brought up. I measured this morning and, using the calculator at The Pool Calculator came up with 30,500 gallons. That is the figure I'm using for the SLAM calculations.

Like others have already said, chlorine will fix it. If I were you, I'd raise the FC to mustard algae level for the first day of SLAM. Knock that stuff out!
