so there is still the same amount of water as yesterday in the bottom of the skimmer where the holes are, dumb question, is that a good sign?
forgot only the top and by the entrance of the water from the pool was dry

Can I get you to tell me if the water level is even with the crack you see?

the water level is now even with the opening for the skimmer, appears 1 crack on either side of the inside going up. the level has not changed since yesterday
when the pool was filled halfway to the skimmer top, thats when the pool was losing a lot of water within a day or two

drain the pool so the water level uncovers the crack. Let it dry out and then caulk it.

after talking to our neighbors, the previous owners had great danes in the pool, never maintained the pool at all and just patched holes the dogs dug, apparently the pool was empty and used a dog playground for quite some time.
based on the pictures, could it be a skimmer leak, the patches breaking off, plumbing? losing my mind here trying to get a handle on this

it was fine during the summer holding water, and not its leaking i don't get it
