I went from pea soup green to just green on the bottom of the pool. When vacuuming it is not filtering the algae out at all. We just replaced the sand a couple of months ago and are back washing like crazy. Any suggestions? TIA
I found it better to vacuum to waste when there is a fair amount of dead algae in the water. I shock, then after a day or so vacuum to waste. I don't think sand is the greatest medium for filtering algae, and backwashing might be making it worse by removing any of the fines that actually help filter finer particles.
