What to do with that old intex skimmer?

Okay i am new to the pool world, what is the reason for this if one already has a thru the wall skimmer? does this add to the skimming??

My through wall skimmer works excellent. But after about 15 minutes, the pool is churning so fast that it creates a whirlpool affect and debris collects in the center of the pool and never gets pulled toward the skimmer. With this, I can connect it to the original intake and it will float out to the center of the pool and clean it. No pulling out the pole and net.
