Clear but with a green tint?

We opened our pool this spring after taking last year off, expecting to take some work and time to clear up our water. We are now at the point that our water is clear, but with a slight green tint. The pool store guy was just sure we had phosfates, I told him I thought it was metal I was right,we tested high for copper & added Metal Free. But still have a slight green tinge. We do have some staining, could that be causing our off color?

Pool specs are: 18x 36. 40,000 gallons.
Chemical reading: Th 200
FC 3-5
PH 7.2
TA 80-120
CYY 100
We are trying to get our CYA down as we know that is high.

Any feed back would be helpful. Thanks

You are right you cya is too high, we would recommend getting it down to 50 ppm....but is that result from a pool store? They tend to be very unreliable at testing cya. In addition, many tests show 100 even if the concentration is higher. See this link for appropriate test kits: http://www.troublefreepool.com/pool-school/pool_test_kit_comparison

If you water is tinted and clear, and you have staining it is likely metals as you suspected. The sequestrant you are using is not one that we recommend. See this pool school article: http://www.troublefreepool.com/pool-school/metal stains
