Intex floating skimmer with solar cover

Has anyone used a solar cover with the Intex floating skimmer?
I would presume I'd need to cut out a section of the cover to allow the skimmer to work.
Or should I not use the skimmer if the solar cover is on?

I use the skimmer with my cover. I have to pull the cover up the bracket a little bit to keep it from getting sucked into the skimmer.

I can't see how the skimmer will work with a solar cover on. All the stuff that needs to be skimmed will be trapped by the cover. I do not use my skimmer with the cover on.

Although it does not skim all the water, having the cover like in the picture allows the cover to not get sucked into the skimmer and thus some skimming will occur...
