(Re)Circulate on DE Filter

I put my Jandy multi-port valve in circulate and turned the pump on. earlier, I had backwashed so my backwash hose was still hooked up to the filter.

In circulate, I noticed that water was being pumped out the hose. I don't believe this is suppose to happen correct.

EArlier in the day, I had accidentally run the filter for about 2 hours in the closed position.

I hope I didn't do any damage.

Any thoughts?

you likely dislodged the spider gasket in the multiport valve. It's pretty easy to replace.

Water should not go out waste while on Circulate. It should only go out waste on Waste or Rinse.

Sounds like you should make sure the multi-port valve is seated and maybe pull it apart to check the spider gasket for damage.

What is the spider gasket and what does it look like? Is it attached to the handle?

Some are like this (From Pool School ... visual encyclopedia):

Some newer ones are actually attached to the upper plate in the valve and you have to replace that entire piece.
