New Construction Questions/Issues - Houston, Tx

Hi everyone -

I know this is kind of backwards but we recently began having our pool built and now that we're almost done, I'm beginning to worry about some of the steps our builder took. We did our research before we hired them but since we've never had a pool built before, we have no way of knowing what's 'normal' or not. Perhaps all you in the know out there can help me out?

below I've included photos of the first few steps, everything seemed to be normal, except you can see in the 3rd and 4th photo below that we have a sewage line running through where our pool is supposed to go. You'll also notice in the 5th photo they applied the gunite with the pipe still through the middle of the pool. Has anyone else seen this done and is there any know problems/issues with this method of later going back and patching the gunite where the pipe was?

Completely normal.

A plumber will be out and reroute the lateral around the pool.

Have they discussed the additional charges?

They did - or rather, they told us to call their plumbers who gave us a price on the work. It seemed reasonable so we approved the line to be re-routed to the right of the pool.

here's a few more photos, we decided to go with the longer travertine coping and ledge stone for the sides of the hot tub. I think it came out pretty nice

I do have one question on the top photo - at the very bottom you can see the overflow drain. As of now it's just jutting out into our yard - What do they normally do with these? Are they tied into the patio surface drains?

our overflow drain looked like that also... they put an elbow on it to route it under the decking before it's poured and I think it will be cut flush with the decking to exit water on that side of my yard where the natural runoff already exist.

I’ll post pictures of mine once my decking get poured tomorrow.
