Tagelus Valve alignment

Helpppppppp I have replaced my pentair tagleus sand filter selector valve and I do not know where to line the pool backwash position with? Do I line it up with the pipes marked pump, waste, or return?

I find this on page 13:

Place the new valve top handle in the winterize position. Install new valve top and diverter assembly making
sure the small recess on the lid and small bump on valve body are aligned. Install all 6 screws with back-up
washer under the screw head. Use nuts on each screw and finger tighten all 6 screws.

So there should be a recess on the lid that lines up with a bump on the filter.
