The main advantage of a solar cover is because it prevents evaporation, which is the primary source of heat loss. The cover also interferes with solar heat gain. Depending on how much sunlight shines directly on the pool (heat gain) and how much wind there is (large influence on evaporation), that can come out as an advantage or a disadvantage during the day.
interesting. so, remove the covers during the day and replace, at night, to maintain the temp?
many, many years ago, when covers first appeared, we kept it on, during the summer, days at a time. quess what? turned to pea soup in color. when we swam, you sweat, it was so warm. (we swam before the pea soup!)
