Is anyone aware of a source that compares noise levels (decibels) of different pool pumps?

I am not aware of any testing done for pump noise but I can tell you that pump noise has less to do with the brand/model of pump and more to do with the size of pump and RPM setting. Assuming that the motor is in good condition with no bearing or vibration noise, most of the noise will come from water moving inside the pump housing and that noise is related to the flow rate through the pump. This is why a VS or two speed pump on low speed has much less noise than on high speed and also why a 3/4 HP pump will generally be quieter than a 2 HP pump.
