You might be a redneck if:
Your Intex pool is held together by a scrap piece of wood and a tiedown strap.
AG 18' X 52" Round Pacifica Pool w/ Metal Diamond Unibead Liner. Installed in March 2007.
2.5 HP Baquapure 2 Speed Pump, 200 GPM Waterway ProClean Cartridge Filter System.

    Former Baquacil user
Converted to BBB in Fall of 2009 - Now I have a truly trouble free pool!

Year 3 BBB -15' x 48" Intex Metal Frame - Was using (2) 1000gph Intex cartridge filters (see Full time pumping Intex). 2012, converted to 1600gph and sand filter+SWG = Sand filter love affair!
Don't waste time and energy looking for a better value on test kits, the TF100 is the best deal around. I did the looking and spent the extra money, but you don't have to make the same mistake. Just go here: TFTestkits. I use Pool Calculator for min/max, and shocking chlorine levels.

    Re: Words fail me

Just because you can't see beer cans doesn't mean they weren't involved. And the redneck in me looks at that photo and knows without a doubt that somewhere along the line, there was beer involved. Cheap beer. We're talking Old Milwaukee or Busch here. I would petition duraleigh for a second opinion but I am pretty sure he would agree.

    Re: Words fail me

    Hey - it holds water!

A proper fix probably involves draining the pool. Which means then you'd need to refill it. And when you're hauling water in buckets from a pond, or using a hand pump on the well, it can take a toll.
16K freeform gunite with spa; Pentair 4000 DE filter; Century Whisperflow 1 HP; Pentair Minimax heater.
Troublefree does not mean Maintenancefree. It's like brushing your teeth: You can spend a couple minutes a day and pennies a week or go to the dentist once a year and spend several thousand dollars.
A pool is like a pet - you have to feed it every day, even the days you don't want to play with it!

Naw, we'd never use a perfectly good jack. It'd be a cinder block or two (even though we'd have to take them from under the 66 fairlane sitting in the front yard). And no ratchet strap either. It'd be bungee's and duck tape!

Im with you on this one. Appears to be pretty sophiticated, no duct tape, bungees or twisty-ties involved.

Zip ties. Where are the zip ties required with Redneck engineering?

My 'disposable' pool -- 7600 gal 18' round AG Intex Ultra Frame, Intex sand filter
Took it down the first year, but it has been up year round for three years now
Was really hoping last winter would have done it in so I could justify an upgrade!

And that BBQ heater has a great story - at least the you tube one does: just a dad trying (and succeeding) in giving his daughter a pool party for her birthday. During the winter. Somewhere with snow. And it's too pretty to be redneck engineering.
