Is there a specific reason you need to change the sand? There is typically no reason to do any more than backflush, so I'm curious to know what you want to solve.
This is my neighbors pool. Water won't clear up. Took the top off for the first time. Pool 3 years old. Last year full of algae all the time. I have spent allot of time just killing the algae this time around. Allot of scum on top. Filter about 5/8 full. Looking for a easy way to change out sand and get the best filtration
You can clean the sand bed by opening the filter and carefully inserting a garden hose down about 3" into the sand with the water running. Push it straight down and let it run a few minutes and pull it straight out again. Repeat the process all around the inside of the filter, being careful not to hit the laterals or the center stand pipe. Allow the dirty water to overflow out the opening. Feel around in the sand for clumps. Re-assemble the top and then backwash and rinse the filter as normal.
