Paramount Clear Ozoneator

I also have the Paramount Clear Ozoneator, what exactly does this thing do? I also have a Frog XL Pro from King Technology which uses a 7.5lb Chlorine Pac and a Mineral Reservoir which is an inline system.

What does the ozone do to the water? Is this necessary or was it just a waste of money that was spent on the pool? Any advantages to having it?

Ozone helps clear out CC, which is almost never an issue in an outdoor residential pool. They are great for spas or public poosl, not worth the money for an outdoor residential pool.

The Frog has two parts. The Chlorine Pac are just overpriced trichlor, which constantly adds CYA, which eventually gets to be a problem. And the mineral packs add metals to the water, which help cut down algae a little, but can sometimes cause unsightly stains and besides chlorine alone takes care of the algae if you pay attention to maintaining proper levels.
