This appears to be standard 1 inch T&C line pipe with NPT thread's. I'm sure this schedule 40, I don't know what the exact ID would be. If you were going to any hardware store, and buy a 1 inch steel coupling, it would screw onto this pipe.

The most you're gonna get out of 1" pipe at 45' plus fittings at household pressure is around 200k btu max without a lot of pressure drop....
+1 to an 8mil solar cover making a BIG difference in your heating needs. They are easily cut to fit any pool with a pair of scissors. I haven't made a solar roller yet. It is a bit of a pain to take off, but it only take a few minutes.
