my ph and chlorine levels low after a big rain. i added soda ash and stabilized ph over the past few hours. can i start shocking it now or wait til night? and when will it be safe for the kids to get in? chlorine barely registering on tester.

As an aside, rain has virtually nothing to do with your water chemistry. I suggest you read the ABC's of pool water chemistry up in Pool School and then read the SLAM article.....that'll get you started.
