I worry about the kids knocking into it. How far will it stick out from the side of the pool? Neat idea but want to make sure it is safe for the kids!

As per the the FC/CYA Chart for SWG it's recommended 70 to 80 on your CYA

Got it but as I mentioned above, I have a non-SWG pool and am currently running it with a CYA of 40. Just want to make sure I'm in the right place. In the peek of summer my pool will receive 10 hours of sunlight at a minimum.

The chart also gives the the recommendation levels for non SWG as long as you keep with the ranges you are good

Non-SWG pools should be 30-50. See here Pool School - Recommended Levels
