Great thank you. I am in the process of slamming my pool. The FAS-DPD test was 12.5 and I have added more to bring it up to 16.

Once I reach the shock level at 16 do I just stop adding bleach ?

You can for a moment, but that's when you simply test periodically to try and keep it there throughout the day/night. You might have to test more frequently at first (i.e. every 1-2 hours), but as the SLAM progresses it should "maintain" better and longer. You'll get the nag of it as you go.

Oh no just tested for FAS DPD and its 6 so I added more bleach . It was only 1 her and 30 minutes since last test

ha ha. Went faster than we thought. That's okay. Just stay close to it the first day or two. Eventually it will taper-off and be more steady. Hold better as well as time goes on.

Do you think that the full sun is harmful to this testing?

The sun does pull its share of FC during the day, but that's what the CYA (stabilizer) helps to protect. Still, a few ppm of FC will be used each day. So it's not harmful, just expected. Once the sun drops, your FC (bleach) is fighting 100% all algae.

Thanks Kim, within in hour it back down to 6 on the FAS-DPD test and for the slamming it should be 16 . It keeps going up with adding bleach then straight back down. Pool math said add another 208 oz to bring it back up. I just wish it would stay at 16

Not really. pH is useless with an FC over 10. You might check CC from time to time, but the most important is FC. If your SLAM goes a few days, you might validate CYA as well. Have a good evening.
