salt water 'mirage' effect - normal for SWG or not?

Hello,

Was in a salt water pool at a relative's last summer. While the pool water seemed very clear (not at all cloudy) standing outside the pool looking in, it did seem hard to see long distances when in the water (goggles and no goggles) because of what I can only describe as a mirage effect when underwater diving for toys, etc. Is this normal for pools using SWGs?

I have never seen anything like that in my SWG pool while wearing goggles.

Did the pool have temperature gradients in it?

hmmm, I think I have seen this before, at times.... here is a picture of mine at 4 feet deep and 16 feet accross 24 hours after opening

and this one was last year with no wind but looking into the sun
