Pump trips when starting on low. Hard to rebuild?

I have a 1 hp - 2 speed pump. It runs & will start up on high, but if I try to start it on low, it will try, then trip the plug. If I start it on high, I can switch it to low & it will run. Right now I am running on high all the time, but would like to fix it. (I'm in California so a new pump...

I built a poolside table/bar for the above ground pool

I'm tired of my PVC over the railing shelf and want to build a new one. Pool height, made of wood, about as long as a segment of top rail, narrow. I saw someone post something on Facebook recently that even listed the wood they purchased. It had a hole in the center for an umbrella. I have...

    Curious about recommended SLAM values

Purely curiosity, not questioning the TFP Gods! I do as you say. Regarding SLAM, does more chlorine mean stronger fighting power or is it more of a less chance of going under the minimum chlorine requirements. If my CYA is 30 and my Recommended FC is 2.0 – 6.0 but SLAM target is 12. If...

Can you confirm that my CSI is ok for vinyl pool?

I took the financial hit this time around and paid for city water to fill the pool after a liner change, rather than using my well which has very high minerals. Downfalls of using the city water seem to be that my CH levels are on the lower side (70). I don't want to add anything to raise them...

Metal testing fill water at pool $tore

Stupid anxiety question here. I want to see if our well water has iron in it and test our city water for the same just for s&g. How do you word the request and then walk away after testing knowing you aren't going to spend anything? I was thinking of playing stupid, saying I'm testing for my...

    Pool Liner sticker shock

In November of 2018 I bought a liner for $157.99 today the same liner, same site is $316.99. I knew that there would be a jump in price, but DOUBLE? My budget can't justify a new liner just because I want a prettier one at that price :( Even more against the budget is above said liner is overlap...

Is this what a lot of algae really looks like in a pool

Because I just thought it grew on the walls & floors, no idea that is was just hanging there... or is this an exaggeration?? If it is true, I feel a little dumb for not knowing. Even though we do our pools differently, I still love the pool peoples videos. I can't help it...

    White mold I think

This is a new one for me. My pool is clear, can see the texture of the harbor freight fatigue mats under the liner, but the water was dull. I'm having a few girlfriends over tomorrow to float, so I got in to give the pool a good scrub down. I moved the stairs and see the green culprit. Stairs...

Facebook Group - Trouble Free Pool (Not)

A while back I saw there was a FB page called Trouble Free Pool. I joined, thinking it was you fine people, just in another land. I realized it was not TFP peeps. This weekend he changed the name of the group to Pool Owners Mafia. Not really newsworthy, just interesting.

    Ascorbic Acid Treatment

For the first year ever I have stains on my skimmer and liner. I ordered vitamin C tablets and today tested, you can see the top of the right side of my skimmer basket cleared right up. RIP Aquabot Pool Rover Jr & PAXCESS Cordless Review

July 2015 - March 2021 I couldn't believe I was spending $272.49 on a robot for my $300 pool, but he was worth every penny. Last season he was slowing down and sometimes only cleaning for an hour before stopping, but he was trying his best. Saturday I tossed him in for the first cleaning of the...

What to do about fire ash?

First to start off, I am in no danger at all. I am in an area where there are wildfires happening all around. Our yards, cars and pools are covered in ash. I'm currently without a solar cover because the Intex ones I used to buy on Amazon for $35 or less are now up to $95 and the one that we...

For anyone on the fence about getting a SWG

Go for it! While I aspire to be a master of the pool water like the TFP experts here are, I will admit I'm a manic owner at best. Periods of love and hours of devotion to cleaning testing, etc followed by times of ignoring the pool completely when something more pressing is happening. I've had...

Tray / Shelf / Table for NON Intex type pools

I'm ready for my next project! For the intex we built one of those handy PVC type tables that went over the rail to place food, phones, books etc on. I want something similar for my new pool, but I haven't come across anything for the wide top rails. I've been thinking even a shelf that sits...

Raise step / stairs in pool

I got some very low price steps off Facebook Marketplace a few years ago. They worked with my Intex, but going to a pool 4" taller has now made the stairs a 15" step down and it's a bit too much. I tried to engineer a simple fix, screwing flower pots on as a riser (there were pool noodles on the...

    Bonding question

We've gone through 2 Intex generators in 4 years. When we put up our new ABG our 2nd one wasn't working so I decided to just use liquid chlorine. How hard could it be? Ok, it wasn't hard but we were definitely not good at checking if there was no immediate plan to use the pool. SLAM, enjoy...

Widemouth skimmer leaking from interior gasket

Cut the pool yesterday, that was only a bit stressful. Gasket on the pool wall is 100%, however, the gasket between the wide mouth and the skimmer part is dripping on one corner. I have taken it out and reset it, and flipped it but still dripping. Has anyone had an issue with this?
