But it doesn’t matter anyway, because I’m fixing it proper this time.

    New liner recommendations

Who can say. The previous owners were dumb. When they sold the house they removed the salt cell and sold it. They also took the shower doors out and sold them to the neighbor across the street. I suspect that they did it that way to make it easy to change the filter sand, but who can say. I...

    New liner recommendations

The stairs are fiberglass. I will post pictures when it is full. It *was* full, but this happened. It dumped about 8,000 gallons into the equipment shed before I noticed. When I turned the pump on and primed it yesterday morning, all was well. I spent about an hour outside and all was...

    New liner recommendations

In the end, the floor is smooth again, and the walls below the concrete no longer have sunken in spots. The builders jokingly called it a standing ledge that developed over time.

Eh, honestly it’s done. Any additional repairs will probably be completed by the next owners. I only plan on having this house for another 5 years or so

    New liner recommendations

I learned a lot of things when they removed the old liner... 1. Yes there is new padding between the concrete wall and liner. There was foam padding there previously but it was end of life. 2. The pool was originally a sand base, but they said this was vermiculite, or at least that’s what I...

Hey everyone, I meant to follow up here when the work started. Here are the photos. They are coming back today to do finish. I think they called it ‘cut in’?

    New liner recommendations

Dang... our pool only gets about 5 hours of sun per day, the warmest it has gotten this year is 84. I guess I will eventually have to invest in a heater.

Also, is it normal for the sides of the deep end to come in at an angle like this? Would now be a good time to have a light installed? Is that even possible to do as an after thought?

    New liner recommendations

It is hard to see in the pictures but below the stairs the wall is starting to bow out, and there are massive bumps under the liner where water has gotten under it, and I suspect continues to get under it.

    New liner recommendations

Well, I have been watching it slowly happen for the past 4 years. A rock has finally penetrated my liner. It has several other patched holes, and things that need to be repaired when the liner is replaced. Will getting a darker color liner help the water warm up more/faster? Can anyone here...

    The swamp in my backyard...

Sadly no it is not a product they sell. As for the bleach being bad for everything, it's all just chlorine in different concentration strengths. In high concentration it can bleach your clothes, the same as it would in your washing machine. For the concentration levels we are taking about in...

    The swamp in my backyard...

I was told that bleach would ruin my filter by the person at the pool store, but after some googling, I was able to confirm what the awesome people here were telling me. Regular household bleach is the same as the liquid chlorine the pool store sells, the only difference is the 'pool chlorine'...

How do I read salt strips properly?

I will order the kit. I used the PH chamber of my test kit, it had an inch, maybe 1.5 inches. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

How do I read salt strips properly?

I just noticed that someone on my previous thread told me to leave the salt system off for a day or two while everything mixes properly. I think the vast majority of the salt has dissolved based on the test strips and what I could see earlier. I turned Wanda (Zodiac MX-6) lose on the new salt...

How do I read salt strips properly?

Dang, that means the reading on my aquarite is about 1000 off... it shows 1600 on the display. Maybe it will be more accurate in the morning. I just installed it today, I'm sure it needs more than a few hours to adapt. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

    Uncovered the pool to this...

Thank you so much for that info! That gives me a very clear idea of what to expect! I do keep my pool maintained to the standards here. Actually that is perfect then. I already run the pump 6 hours per day, and generally last season, at its peak I would lose about 2ppm per day. Our pool only...

    Uncovered the pool to this...

I bought a cell for a 40k gallon pool, ours is roughly 20k. Currently the pump runs about 6 hours per day. I think the current pump only has another season or two of life left in it. I already plan to replace it with a variable speed pump when it dies. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Ok that makes sense. I bought the CYA to bring my pool up to the recommended levels for salt once I have put the system in and my water is warm enough to use it. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

But I don't understand why the CYA needs to be higher for salt... I mean, I'm not questioning, but I don't understand the logic Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

I forgot to follow up with y'all. It took 31 gallons of bleach, but my water is crystal clear now. I will be installing the salt cell / controller tonight or Sunday. I'm excited about converting to salt! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

We took the mesh cover off of our pool last night to this... slam is now in progress. From what I could see with my iPhone flash light this morning the water has gone to a milky color. Once the slam is complete, I will be converting to salt! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
