I've tried that too but it didn't help much at all, if any. I think the issue is that it's so humid where I live that the dewpoint is higher at night, so I'm not seeing the drop that you would think
I installed a Glacier. I've dialed it in and it runs 3 am to 8 pm. Dropped the pool from 92 ish to 87ish. But it's very hot and humid where I live, temps in the mid 90's and heat index hovering around 110. Brutal
I appreciate the input. I'm a bit confused about it because we have a pool cover that floats on the pool that we have used to heat the pool up in winter, works pretty well. I'm struggling to see how these, that also float on the water, cool the pool down
I did a search and only found someone selling some on here. I am on a mission to cool my pool this Summer, just installed a Pool Chiller with moderate results. I've been looking into adding a shade sail over the pool and they are wildly expensive as you can imagine. I came across a commercial...
Thank you for all of the responses! I've dialed it in a bit and am now running it from 3 am to 8 pm. Still adding water every day but the temps get down to 85-88 depending on sun and clouds
In the Owner's manual it says to adjust the valves so that the water level in the basin goes up and down: essentially that basin fills up enough to trigger the float valve so that the sump pump in the bottom kicks in and helps pump it out. I just had mine installed a few days ago and am still...
I know that this is an old thread and may not get any responses but I just added a Glacier Pool Chiller and after having played with it for a few days and nights I am a little disappointed. I also live in South Texas on the Coast and my water temp has dropped from 92 to 85. I've ran it 12...
I did see that ACE hardware carries it, but it's only 10% and it's $8.59 a gallon! Walmart bleach is 7.5% and is only 121 oz. and it's $5.65 a container. It's weak, just have to buy a lot of it. Leslies has been out of the 12% for the last 2 weeks here, right as pool season is heating up. So...
I think perhaps you are overthinking it. I run my SWG during a SLAM to maintain my FC levels above Shock level. Why have to add bleach every day, isn't that what you bought the SWG for in the first place?
My pool survived a hurricane. The pool even overflowed. I didn't have to add any water to it for like 2 months. Surprisingly, it did not affect the chemistry too much. I overchlorinated it beforehand, that probably helpd
Just to answer all of the above questions, we had a ton of roofing jobs in our neighborhood about 2 years ago but nothing recent. No metal being cut anywhere near the pool. I do fertilize my lawn twice yearly with fertilizer that I'm sure has iron in it. But I am super careful to not get it...
So a little update.....my son went to work on the spots again with a metal brush. He said that when he hit them with the brush, the black spots appeared to turn grey, like he had covered them with a pencil. Also, the spots appear flush and not raised on the surface. I'm leaning towards some...
Okay, I was able to snap a few pics. I realize now that my oriignal estimation of size was too large, they appear to be more the size of peas.
Full tests at noon today were:
FC17, CC1, PH7.6, CH0, TA100, CYA 70
I have never used Calcium Hypochlorite in the pool and I am the original owner. I will try to post pictures in a bit. The spots seemed to have developed overnight. I also have not tested CH in a long while, I will do that this afternoon as well
I have never used Calcium hypochlorite. I have no idea about Copper either but I am on City water, not well water so I wouldn't think it would be an issue. So are you still suggesting I try the Calcium Hypochlorite in a sock?
I have to admit I don't even know what that is. I will definitely check into it however
If I recall correctly, the chlorine puck we tried is Dichlor? You are speaking of Trichlor? It's been awhile, forgive me.
If it's granular, how would I apply it? In a sock?
So the other day I noticed some very dark (seems black) spots in the deep end of my pool. They appear about the size of nickels I would say and there are about 12-15 of them all grouped in an area about 2 square feet or so. I know you will all ask, so I will give you my readings. I just...
Your project looks amazing! We did shade sails a couple years back but much more temporary using rope and attaching points to trees, fence, and our offset umbrellas. When my shade sails are up I get about 50% shade coverage of the pool but to my surprise it really did not lower the pool temp...
