    Lowering Ph using Muratic Acid

My Ph is fine (7.8) but the Alkalinity is 150. According to the pool math app I am to lower the PH to 7.2 and aerate the pool. So how much pool acid should I use to lower it to that amount? I started with about 1.5 liters and will retest in 30 minutes or so but if there is a calculator out...

Converting pool from Ecosmarte to "normal"

Found a place that sells the Taylor 2005 here in Canada. $140 CDN plus tax plus shipping for the normal kit. Over $200 for the larger kit (2005C) plus tax and shipping. Needless to say I will wait until the border is open and order from TFKits and have it dropped at a pickup place in Detroit...

Heating a pool with no sun and no budget

Do you have a sunny spot anywhere on your property? You could buy irrigation hose (100 to 200 feet of it) and coil it and place in the area where you get sun... bypass some of the water from the system into this coil and return it to the system after it has run through the tubes.

    Pump replacement question

I have a Hayward Super Pump which is working fine. I generally run my pump mostly at night (when the Hydro rates are low) and a couple hours around 11am to 1pm. Would it be worthwhile to buy a new pump and run it longer during the day on a lower speed setting or wait until my current pump fails...

Converting pool from Ecosmarte to "normal"

I moved into this house about 5 years ago and it has the EcoSmarte system. I never had any problems with it, water has been great with little trouble(yes I know you guys do not like the system). But now my Titanium plates need replacement and they cost $569 USD (about $800 CDN) I can not justify...

    Keeping the critters out

We opened our pool a couple weeks back. before we opened, we noticed that toads liked to sit on top of the winter cover in the swampy water. We have not had any since we opened, until today. I went to check the skimmer and there was a dead (and bloated) toad in there. I put a solar cover on...

    Snow and pool cover

Yeah we are south of Detroit. I hear that this is a lot of snow for the area (1st winter here). However that is a lot of snow for many places in Ontario (in one snow fall). Not sure if the centre is mesh or not, it was already on when we moved in and had some water on it, and I never looked...

    Hello from Belle River, Ontario

I do have alot of time to read up. Actually I just used detroitmailbox.com to receive a package (not pool related). It costs $5 per package under 70lbs. Good idea about using that type of service for some stuff I cant get here
