Help with dim Pentair Intellibrite 5g LED Pool light

One of mine lost the red color. The other just went out completely. Both were luckily fixed while I was still under warranty. One thing to look into is whether you might have a 3 year warranty if you bought all Pentair equipment as package through your builder.

Saltwater Pool is always reading High Chlorine

Re: My FC is 23 PPM! After some light research, it seems one heaping scoop or two scoops should give similar results. Apparently, you can't use too much but can use too little.

Saltwater Pool is always reading High Chlorine

Re: My FC is 23 PPM! The instructions I have with the test kit are to add one heaping scoop of the DPD powder. Does the Youtube video state to use two scoops?

    Is this a flow sensor?

Do you have an automation system that monitors temperature? It could be a temperature sensor. My temperature sensors from the EasyTouch system look like that.

Help me choose a Stenner injection point (plumbing pic inside)

Why do you recommend drilling/tapping into the straight PVC? Wouldn't it be better to drill/tap into the t-fitting that has a thicker wall section? It seems like if I go to the right of #3, this would be so close to the Rainbow feeder that I might as well just inject into the bottom port of...

Help me choose a Stenner injection point (plumbing pic inside)

I am looking for advice on which injection point I should choose for my new Stenner pump. 1) Between heater and actuator valve Advantage - nice open area out of the way, thick coupling to tap into, able to sanitize spa if spa jets are running. Disadvantage - not after check valve, potential...

    Testing/Balancing Pool+Spa Combo

Do you have a return in the spa so that the spa water overflows into the pool whenever your pump is running? If so, I would think it would be balanced fairly closely to your pool water (unless you just added chemicals to the pool and it hasn't had a chance to distribute yet through the...

Stenner Pump Wiring to EasyTouch Relays

Jim, I can see the picture and it is exactly what I needed! I really appreciate you taking the time to do this. Thanks, Rob

    Howdy

This is a good reminder about brushing. I knew it was important during new plaster startup and was diligent in doing it once a week for several few months after....however, I became more lazy over time. I need to get back to brushing the walls regularly even though the pool is clear and never...

Stenner Pump Wiring to EasyTouch Relays

It is an actual GFCI receptacle with reset and test buttons. Sounds like isolating the two outlets so one is connected to relay and one is always hot is not possible.

Stenner Pump Wiring to EasyTouch Relays

Jim, Yes, I received the PM and also replied to it the same day. I no longer see it in my PM history. I also posted again to this thread but it is no longer here. I think all this happened when the forum server was acting up and some posts are lost. I will resend PM. rphpool, It sounds...

Stenner Pump Wiring to EasyTouch Relays

I have read through most (if not all) the Stenner pump installation posts. I see many of you have integrated the pump successfully to an EasyTouch relay but I am unable to find much detail on how this wiring is actually done. I am generally a DIY person but am quite clueless when it comes to...

    Coloring rock wall mortar

Does anybody have a recommendation for the best way to color the existing mortar on my moss rock wall? It has always been lighter than the rocks and the sun seems to have whitened it even more. I prefer the joints to be more brown to blend in with the rocks. I know you can buy colors to mix...

New Pool Build - Katy, TX

Wet Edge has some good Youtube videos on choosing their finishes and colors. Also check out their website to see several pictures of pool with each finish. After I narrowed it down to one or two, I did a Google image search for each one and found several more pictures.

Spa size 7 or 8 ft

I took the advice from others on here to to lay it out on the ground using a rope (or similar) and a tape measure. Then place some chairs inside and have people sit around in it to get a feel for how crowded it will be. It really just depends on how many people you expect to normally use it at...

OK to restrict flow through single-speed feature pump?

Thanks! I was concerned since it seems like the pump gets louder the more I close off the valves. I found this thread also that was related to my question. It seems an added benefit is less power consumption with more restriction (less flow)...

OK to restrict flow through single-speed feature pump?

I have a 1 hp Whisperflo pump for my tanning ledge bubblers and rock wall waterfalls. This pump and plumbing is completely separate from the main pump and filter. The bubblers and waterfalls have individual manual valves to adjust flow. I want to turn down the bubblers so they don't spray up...

    A couple of plumbing questions

If these are the main drains that are several feet apart in the deep end, I am pretty sure you have to have them on one line and split like that for safety reasons. This is so a person can't get stuck on one drain. If you completely cover one, it will just start pulling from the other one.

Colored pool surface finish (plaster, quartscape etc) and LED Color Lights

I have a gray colored quartz (Wet Edge Luna Quartz Bermuda) with Intellibrite color LED's and am happy with the light output/color intensity. Definitely glad I went with two lights in the pool instead of one. I am sure they would look more true color and vibrant with a white plaster... but...

We had 9.5" inches of rain last night

I typically use 121 oz jugs of 8.25% bleach. Pool math said I needed about 1.3 jugs to bring it up to my shock level for my current CYA value. I pour it slowly in front of a return. After testing again yesterday evening, I needed to add another full jug. I did the OCLT test last night and...

We had 9.5" inches of rain last night

I'll share my experience since I am in the same area, same size pool, periodically checked on it all night, rain filled up to coping (even with an overflow drain), chlorine-based, etc... My pool was crystal clear blue last night with good FC level but woke up this morning to a slightly cloudy...

Possible to reduce spa spillover without changing pump speed?

I just thought of another possible solution. I also have an actuator on the suction side that switches between pool drain/skimmers and spa drain. The spa drain is normally closed in pool mode but I might be able to adjust it so the spa drain is slightly open to reduce the spillway amount. I...

Possible to reduce spa spillover without changing pump speed?

I could probably add a manual valve there eventually. I am just trying to avoid cutting into my brand new plumbing and voiding any warranty I have with my builder. I will try the smaller eyeball first.

Possible to reduce spa spillover without changing pump speed?

Coming out of the filter and heater, there is an actuator valve. This valve switches between 1) pool returns and single spa return that creates the spillover and 2) all spa jets (for heating). When in mode 1) there is no valve on the single spa return so I cannot adjust the spillover flow.

Possible to reduce spa spillover without changing pump speed?

My pump/filter splits to six pool returns and one spa return. There is no valve to control the spa return. I would like to reduce the volume of water on my spillover from a loud waterfall to a slow/quiet trickle without reducing the pump speed. My thought was to just reduce the eyeball return...

    Liquidator & Variable Speed Pumps

I was also looking into the Liquidator and have a VS pump. From what I understand, this is one of the disadvantages of the Liquidator compared to a Stenner. Since, the Liquidator will always be dispensing when the pump is running, you will get variable amounts of chlorine depending on the RPM...

Do I need to do anything else?

I also have good test numbers and crystal clear water but started noticing approx 5-10 backswimmers in my pool daily. I have been scooping them out but more will show up again in a few days. This is my first pool and only been filled for a month or two so I don't know if it is a seasonal thing...

Pool Build Completed - West Houston

The kids have been swimming but still a little too cold for me. The rain has been getting in the way but I can't complain because it is helping to water our new grass. Definitely enjoying the hot tub though! No problem at all using that picture. I just hope there are no adverse affects of...
