    Replacing or repairing pool copings

Hi Kimkats, they are made of resin, I'll get a picture later today. We did think of using a plastic putty type material to block to holes then sand them. That way, they wold be good for now and later we can paint them. I have an oval partially unground pool with 16 of these copings, 8 have been...

    Replacing or repairing pool copings

In last weeks hailstorm, the top copings of our semi in ground pool got damaged. It isn't a huge lot of damage but they aren't covered by our insurance (So not happy about that - new for old policy and it's not covered??) so right now, I don't want to spend out and replace them. Is there any way...

Painted my above ground pool and like the results!

I love this idea, it looks so bright and cheery. I like things that fade into the background so the idea of painting a forest or native bush scene on ours really appeals. We're just starting out swimming here in Australia and after three years, landscapers are coming to pave round my pool this...

    Pool leak, vinyl liner

Thank you pooldv, I'll go outside later and see if I can confirm that the is where I think it is. I so hope I'm right, I can sqush the sand around in that area if I press hard so it's not leaking a lot but better safe than sorry.

    Pool leak, vinyl liner

lol, my other half hates the pool and doesn't like swimming, I reckon he'd be okay at using a pole to hold me down though. I need to fill up a couple of bottles with sand to help stop the stairs moving. Is the reagent to check where the hole is? I'm pretty sure it's where I think it is but it...

    Pool leak, vinyl liner

Hi, I've been happily swimming for the last few months. I've noticed that one area of the pool is a bit spongy. We had a lot of rain get under the liner when it was being installed and only filled up half way. I had noticed that one particular area looked kind of raised, like there was a stone...

Partially inground vinyl pool - Water under the liner

It's only of my pool right now, I 'm always working on ideas lol. The net idea of using old or new net curtain material to cover the pool to stop leaves falling in is an ongoing one. It seemed to work on my little intex pool, but on the bigger pool, it wants to dip in the middle. I'm thinking...

Partially inground vinyl pool - Water under the liner

Well, I'm swimming and enjoying the pool - the leaves and dirt on the bottom - not so much. At least all the plumbing is perfect and now we're back filling. We're due for some lovely hot days soon which will help to dry everything out. Can I share my Pinterest Pool page on here?

Partially inground vinyl pool - Water under the liner

Thanks Kim Kats, that's exactly what we're going to do, we can lift back the liner to where the rally bad dip is. My hubs is kind of worried that we'd never be able to get the liner back to where the plumbing is properly. We are looking at re doing our whole lawn and garden area now and will...

Self Leveling compound - is there such a thing?

I didn't think it was going to be easy - nothing worthwhile rarely is :) Thanks Kim Kats, I don't know if you remember me saying that I'd used old heavy duty floor tiles under my old little intex pool, that gave such a lovely feel. I'm wishing I'd done it for this one and gone with a foam cove -...

Self Leveling compound - is there such a thing?

After battling with weird wet weather and possibly having to re do our liner this week, I keep thinking there has to be a better product to use under the base of a vinyl liner. How about a rubberised or silicone self leveling compound that goes on top of the leveled dirt and makes a perfect...

Partially inground vinyl pool - Water under the liner

Thanks Kim Kats, I know what I'd do too. It's just been hard work with the hot weather, working and then this rain and mud. I had another look and the slightly washed out bit and it's a very small bit - it looks like the water came in through one side - by the main post - it was the one bit...

Partially inground vinyl pool - Water under the liner

The cove and rest of the sand feel and look okay, it's just this one bit that appears to have washed out. My other half does not want to take the whole thing apart, he thinks that we will never get the liner back to where it should be. I'm all for getting it right. It rained again overnight -...

Partially inground vinyl pool - Water under the liner

So, this pool is slowly but surely turning from a dream to a nasty nightmare. We started with great enthusiasm (well, I did - hubs doesn't swim) and have been beaten by the weather. We couldn't do as much filling in around the sides as we'd wanted to or get the plumbing done this week because...

    New pool AGP in ground

Thanks Kimkats, it is a huge ile of dirt. Luckily, we're into our summer now so it's going to get very hot - that red clay soil will be a huge rock before too long. I would prefer to have foam underneath and smooth the bottom really wel too. Hopefully, I'll get time before the channels and...

    New pool AGP in ground

We have clay soil and where the Dingo dumper removed all the dirt, there are tyre tracks and it's all uneven. The floor is level just very bumpy. I think that eh whole area needs tamping down smooth before we do any of the installation, hubs thinks that the sand will make the bottom smooth. What...

    New pool AGP in ground

We got the council approval - we got the digger and now we've got a huge pile of dirt and a hole. Tomorrow we start assembling the pool - that will be fun. here are a couple of piccies: https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/29227881/IMG_20161114_111045269.jpg...

    New pool AGP in ground

Well, this pool is taking longer than I'd like to get council approval for. We've been told to go ahead and dig the hole so it looks like they are really close to a decision. Are there any really good you tube videos on how to install a braceless oval pool? I'm thinking a bit of guidance on...

    Warranty issues

That's exactly what I thought, how would they know and why would it matter? It's strange that they've shown it as a warranty voiding issue. I will ring them tomorrow to find out why. Thanks for replying :)

    Warranty issues

I've just read through my pool brochure and the one thing that stands out is this "Do not use liquid chlorine, your warranty will be void if you do" Why? Isn't all chlorine the same? Why are they so against the liquid stuff? Now I'm well and truly unhappy because although this pool is double in...

    New pool AGP in ground

Thanks Kimkats, I'm sure our Bunnings will have it. Pool fence guy is coming tomorrow - just need to get my head around doing the plan for the council and get a permit from the water company. I'll hopefully be swimming by this time next month.

    New pool AGP in ground

Hi, it's been nearly a year since I was last on here - winter makes you hibernate :) My new above ground pool arrived this week - two and a half weeks early - super exciting. Well, it would have been if it hadn't been pouring with rain, I was home alone and my drive has a slight incline. Added...

    Solar - Distance from pool

Hi, I'm just about to take down my little 10,000 litre Intex above ground pool. Next summer, I'm getting a 6mt x 2.5mtr inground pool which is going to be sunk in about half way. We're trying to decide whether to leave it in the same place as now which would mean cheaper fencing. It is in the...

First Ever Pool - Above ground bestway 4.2m slice of heaven

Way to go Lacey - you've had rain, we've had hot dusty dry sun - I'll swap you ;) Those boys of yours will be loving the pool - it's got to be the quickest way of wearing them out - works for me, no one hears me speak after 10.30pm - too tired to talk zzzzzzzzz lol

    Need so much help!

lol, yeah, it is pretty heavy. When it's full, I get my hubs to tip it up - on it's side and use a litre jug to pour it into. It's not messy at all but wear old clothes in case you get splashed. As it gets down the bottle, it's easier to do on your own.

    Laceygirls New Pool - Intex 18 x 9 x 52....

Oh no Lacey, that's so not good - especially with the hot weather we've been having. My little pool was too hot to swim in last week - 36deg. Luckily, it's cooled down a lot now. Hope you get your pool up and running before Christmas. Pools and sharp objects are not a good mix ;)

    Need so much help!

Hi Keelie, I'm in South Australia and have a little above ground pool. Using the advice from this forum has been fantastic, last year they helped me get it back to sparkling clean from a bit of a mess. I have the same test kit as you've ordered and only had to reorder the top up chemicals at the...
