Repiping suction side above ground pipe - question

Thanks for the affirmations on the plan. I think we'll stick with doing the above ground for now and see if that resolves the issue before digging. Thanks too for the tip Jim R. While I have life vests, I plan to do my best not to need them for this :) You and your responses are appreciated!

Repiping suction side above ground pipe - question

We've decided to re-pipe the above ground portion of the suction side piping due to a suction-side leak (air in pump basket and returns - see below for more info if you want). The pool is over 30 years old and belongs to an elderly relative. Ever since converting to TFP a couple years ago the...

Question about returns in older pool

I also have straight pvc for returns in my older pool. I found these - they have an expansion connector on one end for connecting to the straight pipe and the other end has a threaded connection. They have worked well for me: POLARIS 1 1/2IN STUB PIPE CONNECTION KIT - 9-100-8003

Pool build in Oklahoma 1st time pool owner

My fav, especially with your travertine choice is Sparkle blue. Next up would be Calais turquoise. IMHO the shimmer teal has too much grey, at least in the pics. It's tough with so many wonderful options to choose from.

    VINYL POOL FLOAT REPAIR? Options???

I Plasti-Dipped a car but haven't used it on pool toys. I did see a thread where someone Plasti-Dipped their pool piping at the pad and it looked great. Please post and let us know if it works or not.

Converting to TFP/BBB with leftover granulated chlorine

I would use liquid chlorine as your normal chlorine source. But hang on to the cal-hypo and use it when you have those occasions when you do need to raise the CH level. If you drain for winter closing then you'll probably need to raise the CH when you open next season and you can use the...

Dont' Want to Drain my Pool

I think you have a good plan. Late last season when we found TFP our cya measured at 160. We did a pretty big drain/fill and got the cya down to 60 before closing. The pool was pretty easy to maintain at this level. When we closed we just drained to normal closing levels. As you know last...

Just got solar cover - 2 questions

Glad everyone was able to help you out. My GK's are 4 and 6 and they love the wetsuits, both for pretending and for warmth ;-). It says it on the page I linked but wanted to point out that the sizes do run small. Hope you have a great vacation!

    Lap Pool Renovation with Aquabright

Re: Lap Pool Renovation with Aquabright The water looks beautiful. The FC is only 3 but the FC/CYA chart calls for minimum FC of 5 and target of 8 for cya of 70 (always round up). Pool School - Chlorine / CYA Chart Have you tried identifying the stains using the puck test and the Vitamin C test?

Just got solar cover - 2 questions

Congrats on the new solar cover. #1 - I'm no help with your actual question, sorry. However I'd like to pass this along - I have a friend who is skinny and gets cold quickly in cooler water like that. She wears a shorty wetsuit and can spend hours in the cooler pool wearing that. July 4th...

Good to hear. The more often you get FC back up to shock level the faster the process will go. It takes patience and persistence but it does work. Now that you have daylight it's time to brush.:stirpot: Have you checked the filter pressure? Pool School has a page on filter maintenance. I...

    green pool

Sorry to hear you haven't swam all year. This summer has been so much better for swimming than the last few. Hopefully your SLAM goes quickly. I've seen a lot of threads with pools loosing FC faster than yours so that's good. The CC's are from the chlorine doing its job killing stuff so don't...

First, your measurement of 14.4 indicates that you are using 25ml of sample water to do the test. Use only 10ml and multiply the number of drops by .5 to get your results. This will save you reagents. Maybe you already made this change since the latest result is 8.5. When using Pool Math (...

Helping friend with TFP method - gunite/plaster pool

I don't see any reason not to. Pool School says "Calcium products should be spread across the surface of the deep end of the pool." Brush after adding so there aren't any granules on the pool surface. I always add in small doses because adding calcium can sometimes make the pool cloudy...

When you first start your SLAM you add the chlorine and then retest in an hour and add more to bring the FC back up to shock level. Repeat as often as possible - test, calculate, add. You want to keep your chlorine level at shock level as much as possible.
