You've got the pump wires under the wrong screw on the timer. They are on the input side instead of the output side. The input side is always on, the output side is only on when the timer is turned on.

What is involved in going from a (non functional) single speed motor to a variable speed motor? I have a mechanical timer and a SWG...everything is Hayward...no automation. I see that the VS motors pretty much all come with a built in timer, so I assume I don't need the mechanical one any...
