    Above Ground Pool Location Question

We had an 18' intex ultra frame 3" out of level stand for 5 years on concrete, and we took it down due to rust - it did not collapse. We have replaced it with an xtr, which is also 3" out of level, and while I have some misgivings, I also know that IF it were to collapse... we will then...

intex krystal clear 2500 gph pump not working properly.

How long have you had it? We just got a pool up and running this year - had to buy a new one - our pool last year we could never get the water clear. I just deep a deep clean of the sand pump and holy cow did a lot of junk come out of it! Hoping to have better results now...

Confer A frame ladder is an algea farm - will drilling more holes hurt/help?

We have a confer A frame ladder with the raisable, lockable steps. The steps have two holes on top - so water get in but doesn't flow. It also doesn't come back out when removed from the pool at the end of the season. We just completely took the ladder apart and have been soaking in...

    sharkline vs aqualeader

Thanks. I contacted aqualeader to ask which of their pools are salt friendly.

    sharkline vs aqualeader

Since I see you have a salt water chlorine hook up, does your warranty mention anything about that? Pool guy at place with Aqualeader says it will void warranty, wants to sell something called Nature 2. Sharkline place wants to sell simple salt. Place that seems to sell its own line (or...

    sharkline vs aqualeader

I'm looking at 3 local pool stores. One sells sharkline. One sells aqualeader. One sells pools by a name that only seem to lead back to that pool store. The Sharkline I was looking at has steel top and steel side supports. The Aqualeader has resin top and resin supports and seems...

But what are they capped off with? Sorry if this sounds dense and the answer is obvious.

Can I convert Intex vacuum for Coleman Power Steel pool?

How does this work if you have two intakes? Do you block one while you use the vac? This is what I am looking at on Amazon, is that what you are talking about? Amazon.com : Intex 28003E Deluxe Pool Maintenance Kit for Above Ground Pools : Swimming Pool Maintenance Kits : Garden & Outdoor

Through Wall Skimmer for Intex Ultra Frame

I can't help with leaks - but are you putting the skimmer in place of an intake valve or somewhere else? Will you have an intake plus a skimmer or just the skimmer? How are you plugging up the intakes, if you are doing so? I'm trying to understand how to make this work for us.

Plugging 2nd intake on Intex pool

We had a 2014 intex with a single intake. I kept the intake and output pieces for it from the liner when we got rid of it (I have no idea why - nostalgia?) I have seen people mention plugging one or both of the intakes on the new design pool. What do you plug it with?? Am I...

    rusty rails

The current XTR ultraframe has a 2 yr warranty ; the older ultraframe had a 90 day warranty. I want to hope the longer warranty might mean they really believe the pool to be better quality but who knows... I thought it was too new to really get a feel for longevity yet. We had a 2014...

    Above ground pool flooring pad

We used a big white round tough fabrc feeling thing - I think it was called a rhino liner but it might have been an elephant pad. I think there are different brands. Our pool liner held up great, the frame rusted out. We left our pool up in the winter after the first year.

Above Ground Issues...so many of them.

We had an intex 18x48 for 5 years and cleaning the bottom was definitely our biggest challenge. We had a rechargable pool vac we got from costco that lasted about 4 seasons. Intex sells one for about $60 but I feel like their reviews are sort of all over the place. We paid about $100...

Non-intex SWG for intex pool? (ie SimpleSalt)

Yes... I'm actually wondering about putting a 2nd, overlapping liner in from the get-go... but doing so would make it harder to keep tabs on rust. Wish they made clear ones!

Non-intex SWG for intex pool? (ie SimpleSalt)

And you're saying keeping ph at the right level is what matters most when it comes to preventing corrosion? So assuming the current Intex SWG works as well as our old one did - for the 1st 4 years at least - there is probably no point in going more expensive for something like a Hayward...

Through Wall Skimmer for Intex Ultra Frame

Glad you got it working. Probably going to be giving this a go ourselves soon. How much depth do you lose by installing a skimmer? Is the water supposed to be about halfway up the skimmer or where exactly? We had a 48" pool in the past and are looking at a 52" and I am thinking with...

Non-intex SWG for intex pool? (ie SimpleSalt)

Just to ask one more thing to be sure I'm understanding this - compared to other SWG, intex doesn't seem to use any more salt. So if I went with a non-intex one, I wouldn't be exposing the metal to any less salt - so there is probably no benefit from that standpoint. Correct?

Non-intex SWG for intex pool? (ie SimpleSalt)

Interesting. I have to admit the extra things you had to add with the simple salt system were giving me pause but I thought maybe that was just part of moving from an intex to a more serious pool. My friend has said the shimmer is just shock and she uses that because it's cheaper, but it...

Non-intex SWG for intex pool? (ie SimpleSalt)

This is what I mean by a sales pitch, though. That makes it sound easy and wonderful to use. I'm not seeing much in the way of personal experience when I look up information on it, which is why I am surprised to see if is not reccommended here.

Non-intex SWG for intex pool? (ie SimpleSalt)

The first year we had the pool, we drained it and put it away for the winter. We had to patch a lot of holes when we put it back up for the summer. So many that I was considering buying a new liner. So we decided the next year to drain it and leave it up. Well that turned out to be a...

Intex Salt Water Filter: Does it need to be kept covered when not in use?

We had an intex pump and salt water thing for 5 summers and never covered them. I think the chlorinator kicked the bucket the 5th season (could never get water right, it was cloudy and gross last summer - I assumed the chlorinator) - but I think it just wore out chemically, I don't think it...

Starting over: Last year was chasing numbers, looking for less of that this year.

The test kit is pricey but I think should last a good while? We ordered ours in May 2016 and used it the 16, 17, and 18 seasons, and it's not used up. Hopefully that doesn't mean we are doing something wrong? My husband handled all the testing so I can't speak to if he was doing it...

My Intex pool has last 9 years so far!

Mine kicked the bucket after 5 years. I have been wondering today about a way to wrap the top rail in plastic to keep it dry and prolong life... I wonder if adding the second liner may have done just that? how did you clip it in place?

    New pump advice

Interesting. To be honest I kind of wondered how sand would go bad. Will have to try this. If we don't get another intex pool, I was going to give the pump to a friend who has one, so one way or another, we;ll see. I really suspect it was my chlorinator that wasn't up to snuff.

Non-intex SWG for intex pool? (ie SimpleSalt)

We had an Intex ultrafram 18' X 48" for 5 seasons. No problems the first 4. Things were dicey the 5th. Never got the water clear. I don't think we ever got the chemistry right. I suspect the SWG was the problem. Frame rusted through and we threw the pool out this spring planning to...

Really? I've read in lots of places to replace every 5 years. If we get a new pool I have to figure out something because we couldn't get the water clear last year but it was great 4 years before that.

    New pump advice

We had the 14 inch Intex 2800 gallon pump for our 18 X 48" ultra frame pool and everything was great for 4 summers. Last summer would have been the 5th but we never did get the pool clear - not sure if sand needed replaced or if the salt water generator stopped working or both. But pump...

    Intex XTR legs CREAKING!

Did it get any better with the full amount of water added? Thinking of getting an xtr, obviously since it is new there is not much by way of reviews.
