I finally lost my pool, completely gave up on this journey and have a few questions.

Same here, you have to either go through a training program and take a operation and safety test or you have to just hire someone.

Is it even worth considering an in-ground vinyl?

Anyone have floating liner issues? I realized after more research that this can be an issue for many who have water tables. I am curious if you drop a sump or two in if it can guard against that.

Is it even worth considering an in-ground vinyl?

Thanks for the tip! I looked at a bunch of options and of course the border designs are more expensive. You can't tell via a photo the quality.

Is it even worth considering an in-ground vinyl?

They look way nicer than I had originally thought. I always assumed they would look cheap. But you can't even tell. It's for sure starting to look like due to my budget a good choice.

Is it even worth considering an in-ground vinyl?

They are pretty great in all honesty. But if I had a vinyl (and maybe I am wrong) I think it might've been easier to fix. Or at least possible. The shell got all screwed up and needs replaced which I got quoted around 10k just to remove and fill it. I watched some professional install videos but...

Is it even worth considering an in-ground vinyl?

It's a long story (seriously) with a lot of trials and tribulations. It all started several years back during a record breaking rainy period during December. That week I had so much water saturation that I sunk into the yard when I walked. My yard also "shifted" down hill some, which was enough...

Is it even worth considering an in-ground vinyl?

My wife and I are pretty upset that we lost our old fiberglass pool. Due to that we currently have been looking around and are fairly restricted on what we want to spend. It seems like vinyl is the cheapest way to go. But I know you can end up paying for it due to liner costs down the road. I...

I finally lost my pool, completely gave up on this journey and have a few questions.

I was looking at renting one but I don't know if they will rent to someone who hasn't used one before. I don't think it's very hard to "figure out" I mean.. outside a woopsie into the pool situation (lol) there isn't much that can happen in the middle of the yard to the skid steer. But...

I finally lost my pool, completely gave up on this journey and have a few questions.

I haven't posted in awhile but the last few times have been in regards to my nightmare journey. I won't go into a long story about it but the final nail in the coffin was when my shell floated over the winter. I learned a lot along the way including how to fiberglass, work with plumbing and test...

Welp my fiberglass pool popped out... sigh (story/advice)

Texas: Thanks for the well wishes, it actually is nice to get support from the community. And ya I did some major labor on this and it's for sure disheartening to look outside and see it wrecked. Bowser: I am fairly devastated as this point not to mention it has been a nightmare. One of my...

I need to add one of those next to it for sure.

How much does a fiberglass pool shell weigh?

The only thing I "think" I have is the original broucher from 20 years ago. But I don't think it has much information in it. The owners didn't leave much outside of that and a very simple hand scrawled receipt. Is it due to thickness? I figured there might be a calculator somewhat using...

How much does a fiberglass pool shell weigh?

My pool floated (posted about) and I am looking at this point on possibly renting a crane. But I am not sure how to figure out an estimate on how much my shell weighs though. It's about 20x14 with 5' deep / 3' shallow end. Thanks

Welp my fiberglass pool popped out... sigh (story/advice)

I am going to take some photo's this weekend. If you read my LONG story you can see that water has been a huge problem for me. I had the pool filled and fully surrounded by concrete decking several years ago and it had so much pressure buildup that the walls bulged and the bottom cracked. And...

Welp my fiberglass pool popped out... sigh (story/advice)

I do not but plan to take some when I get home as It was dark when I left and well I kind of glazed over and left. I did talk to my wife an hour ago and she was freaking out as I hadn't told her yet. My daughter told her that she heard a loud noise in the middle of the night. The only thing I...

Welp my fiberglass pool popped out... sigh (story/advice)

I have had a long storied relationship with my fiberglass pool, which over the past few years I have posted and asked questions about. And now.. well things pretty much went from bad to about as bad as possible. (skip to TLDR if you aren't in the mood for a story) A bit of backstory for fun (in...

How much will trichlor shock screw with your CYA?

Wow... how do people ever use this stuff? I could prob be fine with 6-7 as I am between 40-50 atm. But I will not use anymore of it. Thanks for saving me!

How much will trichlor shock screw with your CYA?

I finally got my CYA levels balanced, I was up around 80, drained (too much) water and dropped it down in the teens then slowly raised it to 40-50. My main goal was to avoid trichlor at all costs (stopped using feeder) after issues the past few years. The problem is that I ordered the wrong...

OK easy enough, thank you (everyone) for the help!

Where do you guys put the socks filled with stabilizer in the pool?

Wow... chlorine burn off is no joke...

I picked up a bunch before when I was out but that seems to be really hard to find right now. Guess people are dumping it all over themselves. But I have to get something regardless.

Wow... chlorine burn off is no joke...

I have never thought of the overnight test, that's a great idea! I am going to do that tonight, I need more shock though which sucks as I don't have a pool store near me and Walmart is sketchy to go hangout in (IMO). lol But it's going to be mid 90s all week so we want to swim.

Wow... chlorine burn off is no joke...

I was using HTH Super Shock, I will do that and report back tomorrow. I have a K2006 but I had to buy a bottle of CYA regent (R-0013-E) as I obviously ran out. lol

Re-backfilling pool, new decking will be installed (evenutally) two types of rock or one?

Thanks for the tip and help! I won't be pouring until next year, mostly due to replacing all the pipes myself. I figured if there is a leak it would be much easier to dig out rock than break up concrete lol. It's actually looks a lot better now that the mud swamp around it is gone.

Wow... chlorine burn off is no joke...

So it's telling me that for a 10k gallon pool going from 20-40 requires 40 oz by weight or 42 oz by volume. OR add 104 oz of liquid stabilizer. Would you go liquid or powder?

Wow... chlorine burn off is no joke...

I am testing with regents. Doing the 1/2 pool water 1/2 regent (shaken) squirted into the tube with the black dot (until I can't see it). I agree, I have NO idea how it could drop that much with 1/3 removed. I kept thinking I was screwing something up but have tested it a half dozen times now...

Wow... chlorine burn off is no joke...

I need to raise it ASAP, spent a fortune on wasting shock now. The water luckily is clear but you know it's going to turn on me quickly. I have a puck feeder with two pucks set half way. I am worried I will overshoot, it seems to be coming up some but way too slow... do you guys think burning...

Wow... chlorine burn off is no joke...

I tested my CYA levels when I opened and was up around 90. I wanted to lower it as shocking wasn't being very effective. I ended up draining 1/3 of the pool and to my surprise I couldn't get the CYA to register on the test. I tossed some trichlor pucks in the feeder and it seems to be slowly...

Re-backfilling pool, new decking will be installed (evenutally) two types of rock or one?

Hi Jimmy, I ended up going with 1" clean and the rocks are fairly jagged. I didn't notice any mixed in small pieces at all. I did notice it compacted very quickly after just walking around on it. So much so that I could roll the cart with 1k lb worth of rock in it without leaving tire tracks. I...

Re-backfilling pool, new decking will be installed (evenutally) two types of rock or one?

I keep trying to find "3/4 clean" but my local places keep pricing me on 1" clean when I ask. I am not sure really what to do... =/ I would pick up a plate compactor if that would make using 1" OK though.
