On the chiller, I see piping connections @ 1.5" on the models sized for my pool (Glacier ice block) So I'm guessing the chiller would be on a bypass and run thru only two of the pool returns? could you run it thru the cleaner port (with no cleaner attached) and/or other water features vs the...

noted on the sail shade supports. ok, so no more end bench, and new central bench on far side. tanning ledge now 6" with direct step in from coping as I was told steps at 2" deep were hazard. some other refinements on the back of that tanning ledge change. what about waterline? spa will not...

Yeah going to place few umbrella sleeves around the place. Was wondering about sail shades and the support poles for those. Are umbrella sleeves sufficient to handle those with some of the winds we get around here?

loved my spa in the last home, was in there more than the pool :) natural gas piped right to the heater so don't have the propane issue.

thanks, right this swg stuff, last home (also katy) had a swg and yes it worked fine but most friends and neighbors have chlorine tab feeder. what's the big deal? so not cooldeck or the like? will have 1100 sq ft of decking and that much travertine will render me homeless. :) chiller huh...

Does anyone have a good online supplier of the support poles for the shade sails? Do they fit into umbrella sleeves?

I'll be going out for a build quote very soon in the Houston area and will have some unusual limitations for the builders. I'm not sure how they will respond. This will be my second pool build in this area so there were many lessons learned. My main beef with the first build was the mess...

from what i gather at least 50% of the pools on this site are in texas. my own interest is in builds in the houston area, who did what and how well it went with contractors, materials, equipment etc. all in a market, climate and soil conditions identical to mine.

curious on where the second gas line is going? one heading out to the fire pit, but the other one?

Re: New pool build outside of Fort Worth, TX have to share my concerns with that gas line to the heater, is that a completely unsupported run from wall to heater? it should be along the ground then up into the heater. probably not a code issue but it just sticks out like a sore thumb to me.

Actually, I found a pic of my gas hook-up. looks like I actually gotten the dimensions of the new meter and placed the line from meter to heater in there before the meter was installed. New utility line is to the left with the yellow cap, my 3/4 line if to the right with the orange cap....

the idea is always to get a circulation going. option 2 or 3 would work return wise but add a 4th return to the side without one. For skimmers, one at each end would be better in my opinion. I found this ... The Importance of Swimming Pool Circulation

did that a few hundred times :), nice little jumping off point for the kids too! I spent many an hour sitting in the hot tub throwing balls down the pool and testing out the kids goalkeeping skills.

We had a similar yard space issue with our last house and squeezed in a 10ft wide x 32ft long pool with a 7x7 spa at the end. very similar to your PB1 design (without the tanning ledge and we had deep end near the spa) . i'll see if i can dig out some pics here...

i have no idea on the long term durability of the kool deck product but it looks pretty awesome right now!

get those pipes capped! oh wait, forgot, it never rains there. never mind :)
