    IntelliChem questions...

jtech1 I don't think you can. I think it is all or nothing with Screenlogic and intellichem. Screenlogic doesn't seen to let you disable control of only IC60, even though easytouch does allow it.

    IntelliChem questions...

I 100% agree. I bailed on Intellichem controlling my SWG for the same reasons. It is good for pH control, though.

    Quikskim is not skimming!

Update. First off, it turns out we have Waterway venturi skimmers, and not A&A QuikSkims. Same concept, just a different manufacturer. Anyway, the guys re-worked the post-filter plumbing based on a drawing I gave them to add a heater bypass and optimize other plumbing and maximize...

New pool/spa build in North Texas Updated: PICS

The only concern I have with having intellichem outlet on the suction side is the line in the installation manual that says to avoid it because the vacuum could cause damage to the sensors. I haven't seen data that says its a real issue, but I hate to go against the manual for warranty...

New pool/spa build in North Texas Updated: PICS

hey jamcha02 ... are you still happy with the solution to tap the intellichem outlet into the suction side of the pump? Do you see any issues with pump priming (I saw something mentioned somewhere about issues priming pump with this config).

    Another North TX in-ground build

Looks good! You have no shortage of main drains. Your pool pad is very compact. I like the shape of the pool in your yard. It fits well! Did they end up charging for rock? Our PB gave us a pass when the hit rock because they found a place that would accept fill with rock in it. Hurray!

Help me redesign my equipment pad

Are you having any issues with your current plumbing (other than some valves being stuck)? If you replace / add valves, go with Jandy NeverLube. For check valves, go for the Jandy clear ones. These are repairable and won't kill flow.

    New build Allen,TX (small yard)

Looking good! One recent lesson learned I have is to plan out your pad plumbing. Make them give you a drawing, post it here for feedback, and make them wait until you sign off on it. We are going through serious headaches right now due to flow issues, which may (should find out next week) be...

    Quikskim is not skimming!

There is a jet of water, but I'd classify it as pretty weak in both skimmers. I'm able to remove the jet nozzle in one of them to check for blockage, and there isn't any. The other nozzle is jammed an I can't unscrew it. The skimmer literature mentions 6-8 GPM going through the jets. I...

    Quikskim is not skimming!

Each of the skimmers has its own return valve, and I've confirmed they are mapped correctly. Closing the pool return has a little effect, but not much. If I crank the pump up to full speed and close all other returns except the skimmers, I get decent skimmer action. But, this seems crazy...

    Quikskim is not skimming!

Hi Everybody, Our PB installed A&A mfg Quikskim venturi skimmers (2) on our new pool. They are advertised as being able to skim very efficiently even with pumps at low speed. Our problem: They are not skimming at all! There is almost no water going across the weir. The weir door...

New Pool Build (Another One) in Allen, TX

Thanks Heather. We really like the travertine. We had patterned concrete installed on our previous pool, and we found the deck to be slippery, and the seams in the concrete to be distracting. Done right, I think it still looks good. They did the seams poorly on our old pool. The upgrade...

    Another pool north of Dallas

If it makes you feel any better, my skimmers aren't skimming, my spa light has a mind of it's own (randomly changes color and is out of sync with the pool light), my salt system wasn't registering flow for a month unless the pump was cranked way up (this might be resolved now), my intellichem...

They were going to give yours a couple weeks before making the same mod to mine. It currently works when the cleaner is running, but not when the pump flow is lower. It is doing a good job dosing acid, it seems. Glad to hear the fix worked on your system!

Here are some final pictures of the pool. The hot tub has been put to good use. I am glad we decided to pull the trigger on it. A couple lingering issues to clean up, but all in all very happy with the finished product. Thanks for everyone's advice, guidance, listening, kind words, ideas...

Thanks! It had been a busy last couple weeks. We had 7 yards of soil and 3 yards of mulch delivered to build a raised bed behind the pool. The 7yds were not enough. I ended up buying 110 more bags (2 cu ft each) of dirt at Home Depot, hauling 20-30 bags at a time in our minivan). We then...

Same thing happened here. I also have some aqua blue on my waterline tiles, so hopefully they take care of that tomorrow. In other news, the deck crew came back today and addressed most of the issues. There are a few more to be fixed, but it is also getting close. What's left: Acid wash...
