Here we go! OB in Las Vegas

Yes please and thank you! - - - Updated - - - I met with the pool designer today and we are up and running! He liked my initial plan and totally understood what I was wanting. He also filled me in on the 6 ft not costing any more than 5 ft so we'll be going with 6 ft for sure. I'm excited...

Maybe an OB pool in Las Vegas...

Just wanted to chime in and say we are getting ready to start with an OB after getting a bunch of crazy PB quotes. I'll be looking forward to following along with you and comparing notes if you decide to go the OB route.

Here we go! OB in Las Vegas

We'll for sure be mocking up a layout of the pool to check for how it "feels"! As far as depth, we don't really have any interest in making it a pool for diving or necessarily for playing "get it" games but also want it to deep enough. The tallest in our family is 5'7" so I guess we are leaning...

Here we go! OB in Las Vegas

Questions - 1) Keeping in mind that space in the back yard is limited would a 6x6 spa be suitable for 4 people comfortably? 2) Depth of pool - 5 ft is what most quotes were for and I wondered if 5 1/2 or 6 would be better, I'm sure there will be many more questions coming so thanks in...

Here we go! OB in Las Vegas

Shout out to the guys that took the time to PM me and chat with me on t he phone with encouragement! After going around and talking to a bunch of PBs and looking at their quotes, I've decided to dive in (I'm sure I'm not the only one to say that!) I've been helped our tremendously by the good...

    Building in Las Vegas

We recently moved to Las Vegas and are looking for a home with an existing pool but the market is crazy so we are open to homes with no pool. If we go that route, we would want to put one in. I'm all for saving money but, I'm not comfortable with trying to figure out all the factors in doing it...

    Need some advise! Vacation

Ahhhh!!! Relief! I got home after a 9 day trip and I was pleasantly surprised to see a blue pool! I took out the monster tabs from the "in line feeder" (where the frogger system cartridge usually goes) and tested everything. It all looked great except I ran out of reagent to see what my CYA...

    Need some advise! Vacation

Thanks! I'm going to hope for the best but I know if I come home to green pool then I can deal with that as well! One more quick question should I run my pump 24/7 while I"m gone especially with the cl level so high (at least at the beginning of my trip). I ended up putting two monster size...

    Need some advise! Vacation

Would it hurt (much) if I put the bac pac from the frog system in. There is some liquid in the tube (I think tri-cl). I know this will add more CYA but I will deal with draining when I get back. I would rather drain and refill than have to deal with algae. If I use the pucks in a floater or...

    Need some advise! Vacation

Thanks! Also, from time to time, my polaris gets stuck on the stairs. Would it be a bad idea to rig up something to block it like maybe (don't laugh) use some plastic wrap or something like that to wrap around the steps using something like a pool noodle in the space where it gets stuck (between...

    Need some advise! Vacation

I've read over some post and I only have a little time since I still don't have internet installed at my new house..uggg... long story. I get the opportunity to camp out at Starbucks a couple of times a week. Here's my situation: hubby got told today to take his vacation or lose it. This is both...

I'm back but forgot most of what I knew! HELP!!! My numbers are wack!

Good idea! I'll test tomorrow and also start working on figuring out how to deal with partial drain and refill without turning my neighbors yard into a mess! I hope I can keep the water in my yard! Last time, I had a huge yard and it didn't matter.

I'm back but forgot most of what I knew! HELP!!! My numbers are wack!

Back, yes! I had been here years ago when I rented a house with a pool. Loved it! Loved learning about the chemistry! Hated doing the ongoing drain and refill to get the CYA down. It looks like I'm getting into a similar situation only I'm buying this house! Years of using shock and tabs runs...

I'm back but forgot most of what I knew! HELP!!! My numbers are wack!

After many years, I finally am back in a home with a pool!!!! We haven't even moved in yet due to a delay with our movers, but we closed last Friday and took possession yesterday! Pool LOOKED great! My Taylor test kit got delivered and the kids jumped in the pool today and started running tests...

to close or not to close....that is the question

Thanks, I'm about an hour and a few from OKC down here in Lawton, where the song from the musical "Oklahoma" certain had alot of meaning to me now that I live here. I can't see the Bing commercial without say, "yep, that OK"! The wind is crazy here and it always blows. ALWAYS! I'll deal next...

to close or not to close....that is the question

Since by the time we close on the house, we will be toward the middle of Nov. I pretty much have decided to request that the current owners take care of closing the pool, after inspection. I also asked that I be allowed to be present with the pool is closed. Turns out that the cover has a hole...

to close or not to close....that is the question

I am buying a house (finally) about 80 miles SW of OKC. I haven't been the area long and don't really know if I should have to pool closed and covered or leave it open. Last year, I had a pool (detail in my sig...which I will update soon) and I lived in Laurel, MS. I left the pool open all...

might be buying a house with a pool

also, any suggestions on finding someone reputable to do a pool inspection....would I look at the company that installs and services pools? I just don't trust pool stores anyway based on my experiences last year with lies and more lies before I got with TFP.

might be buying a house with a pool

' I've been told that it is gunite. We wrote up the contract to include all pool equipment and accessories as well as have the pool open, clean, and in working order.

might be buying a house with a pool

Thanks! Actually, this is NOT the house that I rented. This is a concrete pool and I had a vinyl pool. I think the discoloration is a stain from talking with the realtor. The pool is covered right now so I haven't seen it. We are going to ask that they have the pool uncovered and in working...

might be buying a house with a pool

I have not seen the pool opened, only the pictures. We are going to write in the contract that the pool be brought up to working and clean. Does it look like some sort of staining in the deep end? Is that something the current owners are going to be able to "fix" without costing alot. Also, is...

I've got to move to a house with no pool :(

Thanks! I think I'm just going to keep buying bleach. I think it would be cheaper than running the pump 24/7. I run it about 10 hours. When I get ready to leave from my mom's, I'm sure my neighbor will come add it and swim. I'm really going to miss the pool. You guys here have been GREAT!

I've got to move to a house with no pool :(

I knew the house I'm in now was temporary and we sure have enjoyed having a pool. We are getting ready to move to another state. In fact, we are going to try (have been trying) to buy a house with a pool but haven't had luck. So, we are going to rent for a couple of months in a house without a...

    chlorine and your hair/skin

I don't have the luxury of having an outdoor shower, so I usually wait until a while after my swim to shower inside, as do my kids. I guess my question is, is shampoo necessary to wash chlorine out of your hair, or would simply rinsing off with the water hoses and getting your hair pretty good...

    What have I done wrong?

TA level is 110. I just rechecked my pH and it is still reading 8.0 (+). I added some acid last night (about a cup) and I just added another cup. I'm going to recheck in a couple of hours. How long should I wait for the Muratic acid to mix in before we can swim?

    What have I done wrong?

I tested my water this afternoon and my pH was low at 7. I pulled up the pool calc. and saw that I needed 155 oz of Borax to get my pH to 7.5. Since all I had was one box, I saw that, according to the pool calc. that would get my pH to 7.2 (good enough for now). So, I put that in. Guess...
