Robot Vacuums - So Many Questions!

EVERYTHING associated with your pool costs money. Ultimately it comes down to what is your time worth? If it really comes down to a $200 annual cost then it's a no-brainer for me. I spend a good 60 hours a week working to allow myself enjoyment on the weekend. After experiencing time-wasting...

Robot Vacuums - So Many Questions!

Joyful is plainly joyless on this subject. I, along with millions of others, panic at the thought of a robot-less pool. When we purchased our house 9 years ago the previous owner spent several hours with me one weekend morning to show me around the equipment. We manually vacuumed it together for...

    Instapark Betta review

Worked beautifully ---- at first. Currently being repaired for the second time. For the price they're charging it's a fairly flaw-prone drive system. Like a child's RC toy boat with a basket and paddle impeller. If I paid a fair price for it then I wouldn't have high expectations, but at nearly...

To robot or not to robot?

The Dolphin S200 weighs about 18lbs, dry. All That You Want to Know about Dolphin S200 | Maytronics The approved removal method is to pull it by the cord until it reaches the surface then grab the handle and extract it. It begins to expel water immediately and by the time you have it on land...

LOOKING FOR A ROBOT CLEANER NEED ADVICE!

To me, a robot is absolutely worth it. I genuinely have not thought about debris in the pool for many years. It's just a non-issue (and I'm surrounded by trees. I hit the button and walk away. We keep our CHicago-area pool open until October. At one point I got really lazy and ignored the pool...

Replace pool cleaner pump or buy robotic pool cleaner

Although the pricing has increased by a couple hundred dollars in the last two years, robots are still a great value. It's genuinely indispensable. It does a fantastic job of cleaning across the pool and up to/including the tile line. Costs next to nothing to run for a two-hour cycle and...

Any Natural Pool Owners Out There?

We've owned a home with a plaster pool for nearly 9 years, feel like a pro around the pool and equipment at this stage. We're purchasing a second home in a rural are in Northern Illinois and my wife is set on a natural pool. I have zero experience in this area and was wondering if anyone out...

Does that also function as a charcoal-fired pool heater? Now that would be an innovation.

    Dolphin differences? Looking for insight...

For my 2cents, I bought a S300i and it worked great until the motor failed after 4-1/2 years of near-daily use. I used the remote features close to never, so I picked up an S200 (caddy and power unit were still functional from my S300i). In my opinion, keep it simple. More features does not...

How often do you manual vacuum your pool?

My first season with the pool it took about 4 weeks of manual vacuuming to finally break me. I purchased a used Maytronics Dolphin from a friend who upgraded to a newer model and never looked back. The following season I upgraded to a new model myself. The absolute #1 essential accessory for any...

    S200

If it's not the cord or power supply then there's pretty much just one moving part, the motor assembly. It's expensive (last time I checked it was nearly $400). At that point, buying a new one makes more sense as you also get a new basket, filters and a back-up power supply.

Solar Skimmer robot - has anyone purchased this model - scam ?

I have a VS pump which works great, but my solar skimmer works nearly 24/7 and keeps the surface perfectly clear. During the 2-3 weeks we were getting cottonwood the skimmer was doing a great job keeping the surface clear. I have not used my skimmer net at all this season (and don't even...

Questions for Dolphin Robot Cleaner Owners

I bought a S300i about 6-7 years ago. Loved it. When it failed I bought the S200 as opposed to spending $350 to repair. As much of a gadget-lover as I am, I'm firmly in the keep it simple school with pool robots. There is genuinely nothing the more expensive model did that my $650 S200 can't do...

    Retiring Rita

We have one and when it works it's excellent but the build quality leaves a lot to be desired. Anyone who can make one of these with something resembling Maytronics' quality will corner the market. The surface skimmers almost uniformly (we've tried a couple) have propeller motors resembling toy...

Robots look awesome.. but really needed?

I'm not too far from you (Chicago) but a once-a-week approach would never work for me. We're surrounded by trees and get a lot of stuff in the pool. I went the manual vacuum route for a while when we purchased our home. The previous owner was 70 and did it all himself. Manual vacuuming got...

Best skimming robot to deal with insane amounts of pollen?

We have the Betta solar skimmer. Expensive for what it does, but it is a timesaver. Our neighbors have a cherry tree that tends to blow blossoms into our pool and it did a great job of collecting that. It does a good job overall but it's very basic and a little quirky...

8 year old irobot just died..now what

8 years is a good stretch. If my robot died tomorrow I would waste no time replacing it. I'm never going back to manual vacuuming. Maytronics is a solid brand (most of the other brands are simply rebranded Maytronics). My recommendation is to keep it simple. The S200 is a solid performer. You...

Which route would you go with?

My insurance (State Farm) didn't care about the diving board. Their only concern was that it be properly fenced (4'-6" high enclosure).

To heat or not to heat [the pool]

I'm going with "not a chance." You will be burning fuel 24/7 and still likely not hitting swimmable temps in cold weather. The almanac shows temps ranging from 20 to 40 through much of the winter and you'll be losing heat as quickly - or quicker - than gaining it. An inflatable dome (in addition...

    Month 1 with bot

I had 4 solid summer seasons in Chicago with my S300 and when the motor blew (I left it in the pool 24/7 for the last 2 years) I bought an S200 to replace it. It was pretty clear that more features didn't result in better cleaning. I'ms till using my caddy and the original power supply and now...

Will a robot really solve my suction cleaner problem?

Ditto. I get sucked in pretty easily by bells and whistles, but in this case what you want is a simple no-frills vacuum that reliably cleans your pool. The S200 does that.
