    Question about cleaning your cleaner

Hello! I have a Dolphin S300i (love it, its name is Q-bert), and I watched the video on operating it, and all they do is hose off the basket and filter liner when they're done. But I've noticed my basket isn't as bright white as it used to be. Is hosing enough, or should to occasionally do...

How to clean / maintain a diving board

Hello! How do you clean a diving board? Mine is white but the top has black stains on it, kind of like a dirty bath tub. And bird poop of course... How do you wash it, and especially without getting it in the pool? Also, is there some kind of yearly maintenance or checks I should be doing...

When do pipes freeze while running?

Hello, Our pool is up and running, but today the temperature has dropped to 36 degrees outside. I decided to turn on my heater to the lowest setting, 65 degrees, to prevent pipes freezing, while I'm SLAMming. It said the water temp was mid-50s. On a running pool, when do things start getting...

    New gauge, new leak

Well, I got it to a drip with paste and some epoxy around. Went ahead and ordered a new valve, so hopefully this will allow me to hobble along until that comes in 2 days. Thanks for the advise guys.

    New gauge, new leak

I'll give that a shot. Yeah, it's tapered a little. I'll do the electrical tape thing as well. I think i'm going to go ahead and order my valve, and just hope this can be a stop gap. (I was stupid and attempted this seemingly simple replacement while SLAMming, I just knew I should have...

    New gauge, new leak

Here's what it looks like. Do you think I can get a clamp around that? Maybe use paste and clamp it to hobble it along until I can replace?

    New gauge, new leak

Upon closer inspection there is a hairline crack right where it screws in. I must have over tightened it. *sigh* Is that a replacement valve then? Nothing else I can do? For a Hayward s244t, this would be the one, just in case, right? Amazon.com: Hayward SP0714T ProSeries VariFlo Top-Mount...

    New gauge, new leak

I fear the answer to this.... I just installed a new pressure gauge in my filter, putting tape around the threads and screwing it in. When I fired everything back up, I hear a whistle and then water started sputtering out around where the gauge meets the valve. Is there anything I can do to...

    hayward sand filter parts

I'll have to check on the multiport. Already got the oring ordered, but doesn't hurt to have it just in case. Thanks for the tip. If I do replace the oring, can I just use Jack's lube on it?

pump basket air - should there be any?

AHHHHH, I wish I would have thought of that sooner. Alright, I will get a vacuum head then. Thanks for fielding my questions! :)

pump basket air - should there be any?

Like this, one of the two blue knobs is missing:

pump basket air - should there be any?

Yeah, I did that. I just wanted to rule out the leak issue. That's a relief at least that the bubble at the top is fairly normal. Um, I just realized my vac head is missing one of the little knob things, there's one on each side. Not sure what those are for, would that affect it? (sorry if...

pump basket air - should there be any?

Hello! I was having trouble with priming my vacuum hose and was browsing around for possible causes, and one mentioned was a suction side air leak. Question: When my pump is in normal operation (no vacuum attached), looking through the lid the basket is completely full except for a small air...

    hayward sand filter parts

Hello, I have a Hayward S244T sand filter. It has a little drip around the locking brace so I want to replace the oring and see if that fixes it. I also need to replace the pressure gauge as it is stuck at 0. I cannot find a manual to save my life, so I just wanted to make sure, are these...

Some questions about my returns, fixing PVC

Yeah, that piece of flex stirring on top is the other return. I just thought it was odd, coming out of the filter and heater, it splits into two, but 1 branch feeds a deep end return and both shallow end returns, while the other just feeds a single return by the ladder. (total of 4) Pool...

Some questions about my returns, fixing PVC

Hello! Just a couple questions about the pic below. This is one of my 2 return lines. Why would it have 3 lines branching out? I have 2 return lines going into the ground, does that mean this line is feeding 3 of the returns? Also, there is a break on that first elbow, and it's right up...

    questions about fixing underground pipe

I found the break. I have 2 lines going into the ground that feed 4 returns. One of those 2 is cracked. Can I just shut off that cracked line, and run the pump using only the other line feeding 2 returns? Or will bad things happen?

That makes sense. And yep, I'm golden once I get the break exposed. Cool, thanks again for the advice!!

    questions about fixing underground pipe

Thanks mikemass. The equipment/pump/filter is all above the water line. If the break is at the first underground elbow like I thought, that would be below the water line.

    questions about fixing underground pipe

Ah, so my assumption in #1 is not all that safe. I REALLY hope it's not under concrete as well. If I can find the break though, I take it I do need to plug the returns? Thanks for the response!

    questions about fixing underground pipe

Hello! I'm getting my pool started way late this year due to getting a fence destroyed by a storm fixed before opening. It's incredibly, incredibly green. :( When I fired up the pump, water started flooding up from underground around where the return lines go into the ground. Questions...

how hard is it to replace flex pipe from pump to filter?

So far it's working with no leaks. If it lasts a year it will have been more cost effective than the pool store. Thanks everyone for your help! On my way to near zero reliance on the dang pool store.
