Why we love our back yard :-)

Incredible advice! I will add learning this process / Pool School to my task list! I just invested $900 on the IntelliFlo pump this month for cost savings... it sure would be nice to do the same in the Chlorine Tab department too! Great family photo too - your dog on the boogie board = priceless!!

Thanks for the info – I’m definitely a bit weak on the chemistry portion of running my pool. Is Cyanuric acid bad for the solar panels material or something? I know that Free Chlorine is the agent that is desired to sanitize the water, which is the primary purpose for using the chlorine tabs.

ok - you got me there.... I know what the usual acronym for "CYA" is, but i'm not sure what you mean by CYA and FC.... I'm still trying to come around to liking my hockey puckey duckey, but it ain't working.

Also keep in mind that your don't lose as much heat overnight as you gain during the day, so if it's hot outside, you'll be able to get your temperature up 90 degrees and pretty much maintain it.

Here's the diagram of the layout plan I drafted before I installed my solar panels. On days where it's 90F outside, i'll usually see an increase of about 4 degrees over 3-4 hours of running the pump. On days where it's 100F + outside, i'll usually see an increase of about 6 degrees over 3-4...

Great attention to detail, Butterfly! Well – would you know I actually don’t even like that Chlorine dispenser (it doesn’t match the theme of the pool much). The only reason I use it is because the amount of chlorine it holds. Once the water temp gets above 86 degrees, it seems to eat up...

Need "best method" for LEAK-FREE threaded fitting connection

Re: Need "best method" for LEAK-FREE threaded fitting connec So this gets interesting – The short answer is: I WIN, THE LEAK LOST! I went down to the local pool parts supply guy (a bit more of a commercial outlet – not geared for the typical pool owner). I explained the situation to the guy...

Need "best method" for LEAK-FREE threaded fitting connection

Well – today I upgraded my old, standard pump to a Pentair IntelliFlo pump – for all the obvious reasons. I was quite disappointed to find out after the installation, I have a major leak where the threaded insert fitting screws into the outlet on the pump. Though I’m bummed about the rework...

Thanks Mod Squad - you outta see the plumbing! The side of my house looks like a water treatment plant! ....And this is why I'm so reluctant to cut that chuck out of the concrete deck plate to fix the broken skimmer! (see yesterday's post)

Looking for BRIGHT ideas to a TOUGH Plumbing Problem!

Great feedback everyone.... thanks a bunch! I took another good, hard look at my set-up this morning, and have determined that the only "realistic" way to fix this break is indeed, to do the obvious - which is cut the hole through the deck plate concrete to get access to plumbing break. I'll...

Looking for BRIGHT ideas to a TOUGH Plumbing Problem!

So here’s a problem that I’ve been able to bypass for several years now, but it’s still bugging me. If anyone has any ideas how to solve this problem (other than the obvious) wow, would I love to hear them! My pool has 2 skimmers, one at each end of the pool. About 8 years ago, something...

Question on Pentair Intellifo 011018 Piping Specification

Re: Question on Pentair Intellifo 011018 Piping Specificatio Thanks for all responses folks! It sounds like I should be fine with the 90 degree elbow on the outlet side of the pump. Also bought a Suntouch controller.... we'll see how this all goes!

Question on Pentair Intellifo 011018 Piping Specification

Question on Pentair Intellifo 011018 Piping Specification Question: In the Pentair Intellifo 011018 owner’s manual, under the “Piping installation” section, it says “Do not install 90° elbows directly into pump inlet or outlet.” This instruction is a bit ambiguous / not clear enough. I have 12...
