    Pool cover question

Mine is so loose that they spin when you try to turn the Allen key to raise or lower the hook pin. I was thinking about using some kind of adhesive. I like the sand idea but I'm not sure how to make it work.

    Pool cover question

Hello, Today I drilled a hole for the anchors that will hold my safety cover in place. It seems the hole is a little too big. The anchor comes out easily. I'm sure I bought the right sized bit. Does anyone have a suggestion on what I should do about this? Thanks in advance...

Pentair Aqua-Lumin II Replacement Nicheless Light Fixture

I also have the Aqualumin fixture in my pool. So far I found an LED based replacement called the Pool Tone here: POOL TONE POOL LIGHTS I called them a few days ago. The light comes with all mounting hardware accept for the spacer that goes behind everything. So far I think I'm going to buy it...

Hi Jimmy, I figured out that the fixture/fitting in the picture is for a Pentair Aqualumin light. I don't have the spacer/backplate and mounting plate for it but I've found sources online. My new question is what would be the best replacement that fits on that Pentair fixture/fitting? I need...

Okay, I'm not sure if I'm describing this correctly but it appears to be a 1" or 3/4" tube that goes all the way past the wall and then angles up to a 1" or 3/4" pipe behind the patio at the deep end of the pool. The wall fitting, in the photo I attached previously, is missing the face plate...

I did a poor job of answering your questions. Brand is unimportant. I currently have no light and I believe I would only need one. I'm under the impression that one light should be enough because it's not a very big pool. Also I only have one opening for a light unless I can run more than one...

    Pool light recommendations.

I need one that can light the whole pool. It's only a 20000 gallons Grecian style pool. The liner guy said it's steel wall but it looks and feels like polymer of some kind. I believe it's 32 x 16 or in that ball park. I read somewhere that I'd need a 30 watt LED. I took a closer photo of the...

Exactly, I just want something reasonably bright that will last a few seasons. I've been trying to find a list of the best nicheless lights but haven't had any luck. Any pointers or recomendations? I'd like to stay under $750 if possible.

Do you recall how big the hole you had was? I don't know the size of a return fitting off the top of my head. I guess I'll look it up. Thanks for the reply John!

Hello TFP! So my pool has been out of commission for the past two years due to a massive tear in the liner. This year I decided to pull the trigger on replacing it. After the liner was removed I was surprised to discover (after 7 years of having no light in my pool) that there is a fixture...

    Help with Leaking stair gasket.

Hi Guys, So for the past 2-3 years I've been losing a LOT of water. I paid for a leak test and they found 2 sources of a leak. The first leak is at the inlet pipe for my pump. I need to replace the pipe that threads into the front of my pump. The second leak is at the gasket that goes around...

In the past that site told me I was getting...

    Leaking drain line.

Thanks for your input. It's about 4-6 inches below the returns. Sorry I wasn't specific enough. I've read threads that say that plugging the drain is against code, potentially dangerous, etc. Can you confirm that is a safe/wise move to make chiefwej?

    Leaking drain line.

Hello TFP, For the past two or three years I've been losing more and more water from my pool each season. This summer my water bill was astronomical. I found a crack in my skimmer which I patched using A+B epoxy putty but I think the real problem is that my drain line is leaking. The water...

In over my head... Pool full of leaves and algae. HELP!!!

Hi folks. Last year I bought a house with a pool and I started using the info I learned here to maintain it. I had a few slip ups were I got lax with maintenance but overall I would call it a success. I was enjoying my pool so much that I left it open too long. Fall came and my pool was...

Broken laterals, channelization, or time to change the sand?

Re: Broken laterals, channelization, or time to change the s Monday night I got home and opened the filter. I flooded it with my garden hose and gently broke up the sand with my hand. I closed the filter after getting as much of the gunk out as I could. I then backwashed and rinsed the filter...

Broken laterals, channelization, or time to change the sand?

Hi TFPers, I'm having some trouble with my filter or I think I am. It seems every couple of days I see a layer of "silt" accumulating on the floor of my pool. It's most prominent in the shallow end and the deep end near the drain. I know a pool gets dirty but this seems excessive. Yesterday, I...

    Remodeling questions.

Hi Guys, So I have my first house and it came with a pool. I've learned how to maintain the pool here. I've also discovered that the pool is lacking in some areas and I'm wanting to improve it. Currently, it is a very simple pool build; it has a basic set of white stairs, basic aluminum...

    Adding Light to Unlighted Pool.

Is there an easy way to add light to an existing unlighted in-ground pool? So far I've seen something called the NiteLighter but I'm more interested in a more finished looking solution. I'm looking for more of a DIY solution that doesn't require major construction changes to the pool. Also when...

Green Pool, not quite a swamp but... HELP!!!

HOORAY! I finally got to swim today. It has been raining all week. As a result my CYA level went down to 45. Wednesday I flocked it, between Thursday evening and Friday evening I vacuumed to waste then ran the filter overnight. No sign of any more algae but I'm keeping my pool in the high range...
