Adding a Hayward Thru-the-Wall Skimmer to Intex Metal Frame Pool (PICS!

@erinb319 thanks! Yeah, I haven't hard piped yet, that's coming. I cut in the bigger intake and returns that came with the sand filter/pump. The larger hose fits right over the PVC piece that comes off the bottom of the skimmer, so I just hose clamped it as you can see in the pics. Look forward...

Adding a Hayward Thru-the-Wall Skimmer to Intex Metal Frame Pool (PICS!

Thanks guys, glad it's helping to "see" the steps before you try it! @norwei - I don't see why it wouldn't work, your just pulling water from surface instead of your old intake lower in the water. But you may want to start a thread asking those who have a similar setup if it works. To me the...

    Upgraded Intex 14x42 with pics

Nice work, I think I definitely prefer the single side fountains like yours than the "T" split ones. The full arch of water looks cool! Your motivating me to get going with my own hard plumbing, thanks!

New Intex pool owner with metal frame and chemical questions...

Welcome to TFP! You might want to look into a Salt Water Chlorine Generator in the future. I've got a similar pool as yours and it really helps lower the amount of maintenance (adding chlorine) that I have to do. Now I only add liquid chlorine before/after a lot of swimmers use the pool! Also...

    Ultra frame connection covers

Interesting, I wonder if this is some discontinued item from intex. Water would probably still get in and rust, but it may work for losing water. I know when the kids get a "whirlpool" going a ton of water goes out thru those spaces!

Adding a Hayward Thru-the-Wall Skimmer to Intex Metal Frame Pool (PICS!

I just installed my Hayward SP1091LX Skimmer and took pics along the way. Hope this will help you guys out, since most of the threads on this are missing the pics! So just a few things first, I have the bigger 2650 gph pump so my intake and return hoses have been upgraded to the larger ones...

How much household bleach do I need?

Welcome to TFP! Sounds like your on the right track switching to straight chlorine instead being pool stored. First you should get a reliable test kit. You can compare test kits here: http://www.troublefreepool.com/content/124-pool-test-kits-comparison I recommend this one, it has everything...

    first time test with TF-100

CYA test just takes practice. As was said above, test in bright sun light, turn away from sun and hold at waist level, looking down in. The great thing is you can pour the mixed solution back into the dropper and keep practicing till your confident in the reading. You don't need no stinking pool...

Newbie- confused about Intex saltwater and sandfilter model differences

I have a 14x42 Ultra as well, and I love my 2650ghp pump/16" sandfilter. Filters/mixes fast. I also recommend getting the SWG as a separate unit. Also if you ever want to add any heater or solar you'd want to plumb it between the pump/filter and SWG anyway. The bigger pump is nice too, if you...

    Solar Cover Holders PVC

Here is my setup: I did it all in 1" pvc, a little overkill but they are solid, even when the kids run into them, they don't move! I put some velcro straps under the hose clamps as well. I found the brush/skimmer holders at home depot, and used some velcro straps to hang them, I'm not...

My Intex Ultra Frame 16x48 build

Looks clean! Hard piping, fountain, and better ladder are next on my list as well. I notice your original intake is shut off, do you just use just the skimmer or both?

PVC Tray Holder For Intex Metal Frame Pool (I Should Patent This!)

Love it! :goodjob: These kinda things make me smile, I'll have to try this for when the adults are just in the pool, less chaos. How about another one, with a tray that fits inside for ice and some cold ones!

Hello TFP! Starting our first little pool project...

Hey all! Here are a few updates/mods to the pool I've done recently. I made a few of these out of 1" pvc, some velcro straps and hose clamps. They work great for the hose and solar cover! A couple of other mods I just finished are the Hayward skimmer and the Intex magnetic pool...

Hello TFP! Starting our first little pool project...

I've been testing everyday to learn quickly, love my TF-100 and SpeedStir! I bumped up the chlorine to 6ppm before the party and at the end of the day I was at 3.5ppm, added a bit and everything is still clear, sand filter is working great. Current numbers are: FC - 5 pH - 7.7 TA - 110 CH - 250...

Cutting Larger Intake & Return holes in your Intex

Thanks for the feedback guys, I'd rather see a pic of how to do something any day, so I thought I'd share. Mine was a first time fill and I ran outside when I realized I wanted to cut the larger ports in and stopped the water just below the intake! No skimmer at all yet, need to order one, I...

Can I hook up Intex .95 HP 2650gph pump w/out sand filter?

I filled my new Intex pool and then found out the pool sand for the upgraded 2650gph pump won't be delivered till later this week. Since I cut the intake and return holes larger and installed the larger fittings I can't go back to using the small pump that came with the pool. Can I hook up the...

Cutting Larger Intake & Return holes in your Intex

Hey guys, Like many of you I upgraded my dinky cartridge filter/pump to larger sand filter/pump. I tried using the original intake and return hole with that awful "squeeze" adapter that has the plunger valves hanging out all floppy, very restrictive and not solid. So I bit the bullet and cut me...
