I have a Polaris 380 and it was not installed with a back-up valve. Do all Polaris cleaners require a back-up valve? What does the back-up valve do or what is it for? My Polaris seems to work just fine without one. Opinions and help appreciated. Thanks

How many gallons of bleach do you estimate you use a year? I think I've already used 10 gallons.

CL is still around 5 or so. PH is still good. I'll check Walmart and DG for their Bleach %. I know some are over $3 a gal. and as much as I'm using, it's adding up. But I think the pool is improving.

Will do. I'll add much more bleach today. I found two different Brands of bleach. One was $1.50 per gal @ 3% One was $2.28 per gal @ 5% Which is the better value?

OK...I've been slamming (shock process) my pool, it is clearing. Should I discontinue using the 3" tabs in my automatic chlorinator and just use bleach?

I've been using the BBB method for about two years now and have not gotten control of my algae problem. After opening the pool and balancing the water PH and CL, then vacuuming, etc. the water looks great for about 2-3 weeks. I test the water every other day keeping the CL, FC and PH in balance...

Not really sure what caused the failures. I took one Super Pump to be repaired and was told it was beyond repair. It had totally seized up, then I think burned up insides. 1 or 2 started making squealing noises before failing but ran for a few weeks or month or so before quitting.

Thanks I added enough chlorine to bring the level up to 10-11. The CC went from 1 to 0. Yes the water is still a little cloudy, but I figured the filter needed some time to clear the rest of the way. I can do a chlorine loss test tonight, but I thought lowering the CC was the goal and I'm still...
