I second what YippeeSkippy said. I just this month am replacing my 2HP single speed with Waterway Power Defender 270 Variable Speed Pump. The cost savings are truly significant even with low electricity rates where I live.

I will add one comment on extended run times. If you have a lot of trees near and, in fact some over, the pool you can get a lot of pollen and other items steadily landing on the surface. Running the pump all day helps keep up with this problem and makes the pool attractive for swimming...

I use the Crown product from Lowe's. It is 20 Baume = 31.45%
