    Water height for skimmer

I keep my water lever about 1.5" from the top of the opening. If much lower, then the skimmer starts to suck air and creates a vortex in the skimmer. But your results may vary depending on the power of your pump.

Hayward AquaRite flow switch bad. Which switch?

My new Aquarite came with the one that has the little round "button" on the switch. That one is the original.

    AquaLink won't recognize AquaRite

Just saw this. I too got the Translator from Flynn Engineering and hooked it up to my new AquaRite SWG. Worked perfectly the first time I turned the power on, and started communicating with my iAqualink system. 100% recommended for folks that want to maintain the integration with Jandy, but...

Just converted to SWG, chlorine demand went way up!

Interesting Chris. Just FYI, after SLAMing the pool I am now good and the chlorine demand is very low each day (normal). I am still trying to figure out the run % for my SWG and pool. Starting at 50% for 10 hour runtime seems to be too much, so I lowered to 40%. Dino

Just converted to SWG, chlorine demand went way up!

I used Morton pool salt from Walmart. The bag reads "Medium Grade" whatever that means. I have brought my FC up to shock level and hoping that solves this quickly.

Just converted to SWG, chlorine demand went way up!

SWG is set initially at 50%. CYA is 60 and I just measured FC and CC again. FC is at 1 and CC at 1. So something is definitely in the water consuming FC. I am bringing to SLAM level now. I just don't think it was a coincidence that on the first day I dump in the salt for my new SWG the...

Just converted to SWG, chlorine demand went way up!

Hi. I just converted to a SWG from regular bleach this year. I have the Hayward Aquarite working great and all the plumbing and electrical is good. My chorine level has been steady for weeks now with bleach and was sitting at around 5 ppm last night. I just dumped in my bags of salt this...

    New Premier Pool

I don't have a main drain (I'm guessing you mean at the bottom of pool?). Make sure to use Teflon tape, and don't over tighten. I don't remember it going in too easily, but it does not leak at all. These are all just standard 1.5" threaded PVC so you don't need to order from Hayward for sure...

    New Premier Pool

Yes, that's right - threaded on one side, glues to PVC pipe on the other. Also, from the skimmer to the hard PVC in the ground, I used a short piece of flexible PVC to allow for some flex in the pool walls and skimmer during use. I figured this would be better than rigid PVC all the way to the...

    New Premier Pool

Thanks! :D One feature I find that makes it look good is that I used special PVC primer and cement that is made for pool installations. It starts out blue in color (to help make sure you have adequate coverage) but after a few days in the sun, the UV light turns it clear. So the finished...

    Hayward PVC plumbing

I got it from my pool builder, but looks like Amazon Prime has it for $20.00. http://www.amazon.com/Pentair-R172288-Corrosion-Resistant-Replacement/dp/B0039LH8PM/ref=pd_sim_sbs_lg_1?ie=UTF8&refRID=09D6R4W0TDHRNWBKZHEY Dino

You don't need that kit. I also have a Hayward Chlorinator and just used standard threaded PVC adapters and/or unions. It uses standard sized connectors (see my signature link for pictures). Dino

    Low cost automation

Looks like the price went up a bit since I bought this last year, but still not too bad. I bought from Sunplay as they had the best price, and I can tell you their customer service is excellent: http://www.sunplay.com/Jandy-AquaLink-R ... q904-p.htm This kit comes with everything you need. Dino

    Low cost automation

What is your budget? For about $600 you can get a complete iAqualink system from Jandy that will do exactly what you want. See the pool thread in my signature. Dino

    Heat Pump vs Gas Heater

I love my heat pump and I live near Worcester, MA. Not sure why you say one would be disappointed as we have been enjoying ours all season.

Confer roll-a-way A-frame ladder coming apart!

I just installed one of these on my pool. There are supposed to be two braces on either side that get screwed into both legs as well as the top plate of the pool. You can see it in my signature link in one of the pictures towards the bottom of the page. PridgNYC mentions something about a...

Least expensive option to add iPhone app to control pool?

Re: Least expensive option to add iPhone app to control pool Take a look at the Jandy/Zodiac IQ904-P kit. About $600 from online vendors. Check out my signature for my setup that shows the control panel that comes with the kit.

    New Premier Pool

Over the weekend, I finished up the stone surround for the equipment pad. This helps with drainage for the heat pump (puts out a lot of condensation) and also from the pump when cleaning out the basket. In front of the heat pump I dug the ground deeper and filled it with the river rocks to...
