Trying to SLAM a salt water pool

Awesome. Now that my pool is clear and clean I’ve gone ahead and begun using my SWG. it’s an INTEX 26669EG. Should I be going by maintenance levels associated with liquid chlorine? Or the one for SWG? The reason I ask is because we can’t adjust our chlorine levels on this particular model.

Trying to SLAM a salt water pool

Yes. I have a sand filter. Yesterday I went in the pool and used a hand vacuum. Water is essentially clear but there’s just the dead algae that needs to be picked up. I backwash daily. A few leaves are in there as well. Can I go ahead and start using the SWG now? Ran a test just now and here’s...

Trying to SLAM a salt water pool

Update: OCLT passed CC is 0.5 Pool is slightly cloudy Question is, should I continue to slam? Also, is the water safe to get in? I’d like to enter the pool and use a manual vacuum since my automated robot is slow and just doesn’t seem to clean as well as the push vacuum. Any thoughts? You...

Trying to SLAM a salt water pool

Gotcha. Powder test only. Now from here on out the goal is to keep the chlorine high enough to pass the OCLT right?

Question for the board. How exactly do you read this chlorine test cylinder? I’m looking at the color and to me it appears to be brighter than 3 but less than 5. The Br is bromine so that can be ignored. Or am I missing something here?

Trying to SLAM a salt water pool

One last question. The video says the first thing to do is lower pH and THEN start the slam. From what everyone has said, it seems I can just worry about CYA first, and then get the FC back to normal. So just follow y’all’s advice? Or do the ph lowering and then start.

Not draining it. Adding the chlorine has turned the pool almost back to normal. Obviously looks aren’t the goal. I want the levels to be normal and safe.

Trying to SLAM a salt water pool

I’ve reread the SLAM process multiple times. I had no CYA to begin with. So far been adding 32 oz in accordance with my Chlorine is around 2.0. The CYA however is something confusing. According to the slam video it said Ph could be ignored and nothing about CYA was mentioned. As previously...

Trying to SLAM a salt water pool

I’m partially confused about this SLAM process. It seems the ph was supposed to be lowered prior to starting the SLAM. the pool has now gone from green and swampy to teal in 24 hrs and now 3 days later it’s blue but cloudy. Not sure what to do. Should chlorine continue to be added? Or should I...

Awesome. Do I test for CYA now since I just started adding CL? or does CL not raise CYA?

Trying to SLAM a salt water pool

First time user here. Got an Intex above ground pool with 12,481 gallon capacity. Pool was sitting for months after the warm season ended. Naturally the pool is completely green. Trying to utilize the SLAM method. Chlorine levels are completely zero. According to the pool math app, we are only...
