    Valve actuator questions

No worries at all. When I started googling for this, I thought I was missing it somehow as well. There's no place on the case where there could ever have been a toggle switch.

Doesn't look like it was ever there. FWIW. there's an auction on ebay for a 2440 without toggle so they MUST have made them at some point

    Valve actuator questions

Part of the mystery is solved. I took the old actuator off and the top cover is a gold line GVA-24 but the actual hardware is an older Jandy JVA2440 without the toggle switch. I bought a tork TPE24va to replace it. Now I just have to figure out the cams ;)

    Valve actuator questions

Yeah, I'm absolutely positive. I have the 3 wires coming in but no switch. The wiring inside looks correct based on the schematics I've seen if you take out the toggle. It might be simpler just to by a newer actuator

    Valve actuator questions

I have one valve in my system. The valve is an old goldline gva-24. IT does not have a toggle switch that I can find. The way the valve is plumbed, water in comes in at the 180 degree, main outlet is at 270, and roof solar is at 0 degrees. I have it set for 90 degree turrn. If I lose power...

    Solar heater timings..

Makes sense. I have the temp sensors, but still need to pick up a solar sensor. I live in the SF Bay area and if there's fog, it's typically gone by 10-11am. Although it's been a weird cool spring and we're just opening the pool now. I have the valve and pump controlled thru relays set on a...

    Solar heater timings..

Afternoon, I just built a pool controller with a Raspberry Pi to control my pool equipment. At the moment, I plan to use a schedule to turn the solar panels on and off. I'm wondering what times of day would be best to maximize heating? I'm guessing somewhere after 11am to 4 or 5 pm...

Where to buy Chlorine and other chemicals

I'm 45 minutes up the road (680) from you. If there's a wallie world near to you, they have 2 gallons of LC for $6.50. I've also read about a 2 for 1 coupon for a place on the penninsula where you can get 8 gallons~20. Search for yourpoolguys on TFP. Hills bro in SJ is rumored to sell bulk to...

    Waste to have variable?

Your profile says you're from Northern California? I live about 30 miles east of SF and was regularly hitting $300 a month in PGE costs. My old pump was a sta-rite 1.5hp max e-pro. I switched just the motor to a variable speed pump and my PGE is now around $150 per month.

    EcoTech EZ interface adapter needed?

I have the ecotech ez and am really happy with it. I live just north of you and my PGE bill is down almost $125 a month than last year. It does come with a built in timer with 2 settings per day plus another 2 for the weekend. For me, I run the pump on 40% for 6 hours then at 80% for 2 hours...

Leak in return line for solar panels

It's ok to connect without gluing? Now I'm wondering if the riser isn't glued into the 90. I guess if I got rid of the 45, I would have more room to work with Thanks for the advice, I appreciate it

Leak in return line for solar panels

Photo attached. Leak is on the return pipe on the right hand side, on the side that faces the house. From what I can tell, it looks to be leaking from the joint.

Leak in return line for solar panels

Morning, I'm hoping someone has a suggestion on how to fix a leak in my pac return line from the roof. IT looks like it's a bad PVC weld because it is leaking right at the 90 angle on the ground. I don't think I have any room to cut in to replace the joint. Whomever put it in didn't...

    Bleach Prices 2014

I am getting 4 gallons of 12.5% for $15 (.23 per oz) from a local pool supply store in the East Bay. Probably not worth a trip from Redwood City tho

Help me identify my motor replacement

I'm planning on eventually tying a rPi into my system as well. I would look into a relay that can handle the voltage for the SWG. I'm guessing that's 110v? Or 230v? I would email US Motors at [email protected] with your plans to make sure it'll work as you think.

Help me identify my motor replacement

I don't think the ecotech will spin up when power is removed then applied. It didn't when I was installing it this weekend. To be fair tho, I didn't set the program yet. You might be able to use the ez interface ($120) connected to the motor, then connect a relay to the output on the ez...

Help me identify my motor replacement

That's why I was asking. I am planning to use a Raspberry Pi to control the motor and my solar panel valve. If I can wire the valve up to a relay that is switched by the ecotech, I'd look into that

Help me identify my motor replacement

I'm getting the picture now. I thought the OP was trying to tie the relay into the ecotech's computer somehow, sort of like the green motors, that does have the option to control an accessory.

Ecotech EZ Variable Speed Motor & Hayward SuperPump (aka FrankenPump)

I put mine in this past weekend and I'll agree with you that it is very quiet. I like the sound it makes when it spins up at first, sounds like a jet plane :) I'm getting about 20 PSI at full speed and ~10psi at 50%.
