Need help with a possible leak

Great, I'll try running water over the connections like you suggest and see if I can narrow it down. Thanks!

Need help with a possible leak

Hey guys, need some help diagnosing a possible leak. Short story, had to replace my motor as I had a cracked motor seal plate and water got into the motor. Rebuilt just about all of the pump with a new VS motor, seals, plate, gasket and impeller. Fired everything back up and I've got tons of...

New plaster with divots and pock marks?

I should add that there are larger sized pieces of hardened plaster stuck to a few spots on the walls (even with twice a day brushing), stains around the light, stains around one of the returns and part of the wall around the light is as rough as sandpaper.

New plaster with divots and pock marks?

Hi Guys, On our newly plastered pool (less than 2 weeks old), is it normal to see pock marks and divots on the bottom or is the entire surface supposed to be smooth? I'm not sure how picky to be, but it seems these divots are rough and going to be great places for algae to grow on... It was...

    New Plaster and Green Water

Also, during skimming I've noticed an orange film on the surface. It sticks to my leaf skimmer a little. Nevermind. Figured out it's from my bradford pears. :(

    New Plaster and Green Water

I didn't start adding chlorine until day 5 and then very slowly. I was told too much chlorine too fast could cause problems? Definitely not running the SWG.

    New Plaster and Green Water

You can still see the bottom, but I'd say murky green.

    New Plaster and Green Water

Hi All! Our pool was just remodeled and replastered. Pool was filled 7 days ago (last Sunday). Since then I've brushed twice daily, added sequesterant and acid to keep the pH in check. On day 4 I started bringing my CYA up and on day 5 started slowly adding bleach until I got to an FC of 4 on...

    Mystery Return Question

Thanks for the advice, guys. Looks like I'll just cap it, fill the hole back up and call it a day. Thanks!

    Mystery Return Question

So, a little backstory...when we bought our house a year and a half ago (with in-ground 25,000 pool) I asked the previous owner how many returns were supposed to be in operation. At that time there were three "returns" in the pool, but only two had eyeballs on them and were actually functioning...

    I attempted my AA treatment

Great advice, thanks! Added some DE per the Pool School instructions and the water is definitely clearing up...I can see the main drain now! FC seems to still be holding, so I think I'm on track. I can start to see some of the previous stains still on the bottom. I won't be able to tell until...

    I attempted my AA treatment

Monday update: FC held overnight, so it seems most of the AA has been neutralized. Water is still cloudy and clearing up every so slightly. Filter is still running 24/7. Anything else I should be doing or just let the filter do it's job?

    I attempted my AA treatment

Okay, I've been adding chlorine per JasonLion every hour so far today. I seem to be dropping about half every hour and the sun hasn't really come out yet. Question: should I be concerned with my CYA levels at this point? It's sitting around 25 while all my other levels are right in line...

    I attempted my AA treatment

Thanks, JasonLion. Little late tonight to monitor FC every hour, but I've already got the chlorine so I'll start first thing in the morning and report back.

Used Hydrogen Peroxide for Removing Metal Stains - Results

Re: I attempted my AA treatment Wow, that's some good advice, smallpooldad! Luckily, I have a reef tank so the ammonia test was quick and easy and it was negative for ammonia. Could be that I already killed most of it by dosing so much chlorine the past two days. The HP/AA treatment is...

    I attempted my AA treatment

Thanks, Richard320. If only they bottled and sold patience... Wild speculation and information on experimental techniques has been moved here. JasonLion

    I attempted my AA treatment

Yes, I did add sequestrant after the treatment. Should I add more or just keep adding bleach?

    I attempted my AA treatment

I started slowly adding bleach to try to raise my FC and gradually increased the amount, but no matter how much I add it seems like I can't get my FC up to normal levels much less shock level. Should I just keep adding more? I'm not sure what's eating up all the chlorine...

    I attempted my AA treatment

Well, a week later and the water is still cloudy. Noticed some hints of my black algae coming back, so I'm trying to fight that now. Water never did clear up to let me see how effective the AA is, so hopefully I'll see when I get the levels back under control.

    I attempted my AA treatment

I think I messed up assuming the AA would bring the pH down itself so I didn't lower it prior to dosing AA. Cloudiness does seem to be clearing slowly so I'll keep running the filter. Thanks!

    I attempted my AA treatment

So, I attempted my AA treatment. First, I don't think my pH was low enough to start with. I read later where someone recommended 7.0-7.2 before starting or after the initial dose waiting 24 hours to let the pH drop before attempting a second dose. I waited after my first dose, didn't see much...

Ascorbic Treatment to rid Pool of metal stains

The first link in the OP: http://www.msm-msm.com/store/agora.cgi They have it for around $7/lb or 5lb for $32.

Ascorbic Treatment to rid Pool of metal stains

Just ordered my AA to give this a shot and FYI...5lb bag was $32. I'm sure that's more than I need but I figured better to have too much than not enough and considering what I've spent on BBB so far $32 ain't a whole lot. Can't wait to see the difference!

    Dolphin Robotic Cleaners

I'm almost tempted to think that there's something amiss with the floats. It should weigh enough when submerged to keep it on the bottom. Not sure about your particular model, but on mine the floats are adjustable in case it's having trouble climbing. Mine also has foam pads that you initially...

Black, Mustard, Green...all the fun algae

I rubbed a Vitamin C tab across some of the stains and they did go away. Is acid washing the only way to get rid of it?

Black, Mustard, Green...all the fun algae

I appreciate the info... I know there was scale on the salt cell when I took it apart and cleaned it and I know the inital pH was way off when I started checking. At first I thought it was just on the walls, but that was because the water was so cloudy I couldn't actually see the bottom. When...

Black, Mustard, Green...all the fun algae

So, after almost two weeks of shock level (one of which using a dull ss brush) my water is almost crystal clear, and I've got all but a spec or two of black algae remaining! I have to get down to water level now to try to identify any remaining spots, they're so small are rare now. And here's a...

    Dolphin Robotic Cleaners

So, after researching all over the net I still can't figure out whether it has one or two motors. The description from Doheny's doesn't say either way so I'm leaning towards one. On the other hand the closed I can find is the Leslie's Deluxe 4 which has one motor but no remote. The Deluxe 5 has...

    Dolphin Robotic Cleaners

The remote is pretty basic. You can use it to switch between Normal Clean, Quick Clean and Manual. Manual mode is a little awkward in that it takes a few seconds for the signals to reach the robot and for the robot to move, so it takes a little practice. Think more like a remote control tank...
