I am experienced. I just want to change a really old one that is exactly like the one in the picture.

One end is compression and the other end is for steel pipe.

I got this image from another website. I need the exact connector in the picture, but I can't find a name for it. The part that is connected to the polyethylene gas pipe.

Looks like an old waterway valve. Look on the part in your hand and see if there are any numbers.

It unscrews counter clockwise. If you take a look at the picture in the second link I gave you, you will see the threads and an o-ring. You won't be able to remove the part by hand. You will need to remove the silicone and use a wrench to remove the part. Here's a really good picture of the...

Take the multi valve off of the filter and check to make sure there is nothing in the center pipe.

Backwash for 3 minutes like JasonLion said, then you want to rinse for 1 min.

The Lowes where I live only sells Charlotte and Lasco fittings. The Charlotte fittings they carry are for DWV only. The OP may have gotten fittings that were for DWV only. A DWV fitting will only fit 3/4 of an inch on a pipe, while a fitting for pressure will fit 1 1/4 inch on a pipe.

The fitting you have is good.

Re: Why is it so hard to glue pvc pipe to a jandy valve! I've ruined three so far, so I give up. Third time I didn't let the primer dry and immediately put the cement on the pipe and valve. It would only go half way in and refuse to go any further.

Trying to glue sch 40 pvc pipe to a jandy never lube valve. Why must you have to sand the Crud out of the pipe just to get it to fit properly. If I don't sand the pipe it won't fully seat into the fitting when glued.
