Old S240 Sand filter needs replacement

I need to replace my Hayward S240 Sand filter with a side mount type sand filter. My flow rate is 63gpm now. I have 33,000 gallon pool, and variable speed pump. The Hayward S200 looks too small. Are their any suggestions in this forum for me? Maybe an S244S will do the trick. Wish They still...

    EcoStar Update

Had a lot of problems with my new ecostar as described before last summer. I have a new pump now because the first one had bearing issues like yours. Lucky I was able to get an exchange for free because I wined a lot. I think the failure was because of a failed prime though.

Looking for Variable speed pump with 1 1/2" fittings.

Thanks lungs ; I still have the box . But, I am gonna wait for the repair guy - i guess and warranty service. Now i'm thinking about it I'd really want another model. Too bad there is not a VS pump with 1 1/2" fitting. What is up with that. I don't see many older pools with 2" pipes. When I 1st...

Yeah the jury is still out on the pipe transition. A Hayward tech. name Derrick dropped that knowledge , or mis-knowledge, on me.

Looking for Variable speed pump with 1 1/2" fittings.

TY for the good information. I do find it had to believe the pump has bearing problems. And, the techs at Hayward are spotty. Maybe I got something inside the impeller, but I checked the inlet side and I also pulled the fan cover and check for foreign object; it was clear. I have a service call...

Looking for Variable speed pump with 1 1/2" fittings.

Since being informed by th Hayward tech. by the name of Derrick, that my 2 month old Ecostar VSP 3400 should not be run over 2000 rpm with 1 1/2" pipe leading into the 2" suction, I have decided I need to look for a VSP with 1 1/2" suction. Most I have seen have 2" suction. Does anyone know of a...

Air Pocket Comes and Goes in New Pump

I am sorry to say for all of us with 1 1/2 pool piping the esostar sp 3400 vsp will never have a remedy for air pockets. I have talked to the reps at Hayward and they all say the same thing ... " your gonna have air pockets with a setup that has 1 1/2 feeding 2" pump suction." And further more...

    Ecostar and Air bubbles

I know this thread is a little old but more and more Ecostar SP3400VSP are being sold especially in Florida requiring VS or 2 speed pumps for new pools and not to mention it's hard to find your local pool store selling pumps rated over 3/4 horse due to new legislation. Anyway - the Hayward Tech...

Air Pocket Comes and Goes in New Pump

I just installed the ecostar 3400 and have the same problem. Very sure it's in the 2" fitting on suction side of pump, because i re - seated it and got better suction. But alas, the bubble in the lid came back. Next I'm gonna undo fitting retape and put more lube on the gasket. Do you think it...
