Care to help me troubleshoot a Coverstar shifter?

I have not tried them. Thanks for the suggestion. Might try them if I'm unable to sort it out myself in the next week or so.

Care to help me troubleshoot a Coverstar shifter?

I’m 45 minutes south of Atlanta. Coverstar is 45 minutes north of Atlanta. So 3 hours roundtrip. I would LOVE to find an independent repair person. Maybe I should fly to the Bay Area and pay your independent repair person $100 to look at my video. It’d literally be cheaper.

Care to help me troubleshoot a Coverstar shifter?

I have a Coverstar cover that won’t open or close reliably. The issue is the double-dog shifter, which is supposed to engage the drive shaft, but instead spins freely. Wondering if anyone has experience with this issue and can suggest a remedy. Here’s how these mechanisms are supposed to work...

Pump for “Sheer” Descents Above 3 Feet?

Thanks James. For clarity I meant diverting the pool return that went to our Polaris to the sheers. We have dual drains with anti vortex covers on the spa, pool and sheers. The simplest solution is obviously to replace the $200 motor on the pump and live with the noise. Wondering if I should do...

Pump for “Sheer” Descents Above 3 Feet?

Thanks James. What you say makes sense. We do have an unused outlet on the main pump that used to run our Polaris (replaced with a robot). I could try running the falls off that and see if it's a good long-term solution. If not, I noticed one of the waterfall pumps you linked to (Pentair...

Pump for “Sheer” Descents Above 3 Feet?

I appreciate all the advice. For clarity I have only one skimmer. Is it possible to have the main drain feed both the sheers and the main pool/spa pump? Thank you.

Pump for “Sheer” Descents Above 3 Feet?

Thanks James. The main pump runs a spa as well as the pool, so unfortunately we can’t use it permanently. It seems like it may be worth running a test with it to see the impact of going from 1.5HP to 2HP. Then I can make a more informed guess as to whether the investment in a larger variable...

Pump for “Sheer” Descents Above 3 Feet?

Very helpful. Thank you James. Would it be smart to temporarily route the falls through my main pump, which is a 2HP FloPro? The goal being to see if a higher flow rate addresses the issue. It’s a lot of extra work and perhaps a long shot given the underlying issue you identified.

Pump for “Sheer” Descents Above 3 Feet?

Thanks James. Replacing the 2" suction line would be impractical, but it's good to know that's undersized. Regarding flow rate, I have read that 1 GPM per inch is a good rule of thumb. That would suggest 96 GPM, but presumably I should aim higher to compensate for the unusually high...

Pump for “Sheer” Descents Above 3 Feet?

We have four 24” sheer descents with a dedicated 1.5HP Jandy FloPro pump (Model FHPM1.5). The pump has failed and needs to be replaced. When replacing the pump, we are hoping to address a shortcoming of the original installation. The original 1.5HP pump was powerful enough to project the...

Jandy Jxi CHECK IGN STEPS error

We had this issue with our Jandy heater. Our installer could not find anything wrong with the unit, so he surmised it was caused by insufficient gas pressure. We called the gas company, they installed a larger meter (for free), and the problem never recurred.

    Tracking gas heater runtime?

OK let's say it's definitely the pool heater. We are still seeing a 3x increase in gas usage year-to-year, which doesn't make sense given our spa/pool usage. If I could track the heater's runtime, I'd be able to check daily or weekly usage, and understand when the gas is being consumed. Once I...

    Tracking gas heater runtime?

Is there a simple way to track the runtime of our gas pool heater? Our gas bills spiked recently, and I suspect our pool heater is the culprit, so I'd like to track its usage going forward. We use the heater during the winter exclusively to heat the spa. I suspect that when we're done...

    Sonar pool alarm?

We're breaking ground soon on a 40x10 in-ground pool with spa. We have many young children in our neighborhood, so in addition to the fence, we're adding a motorized safety cover. I'm curious if anyone has experience with SonarGuard or similar sonar alarms. I'm attracted by the fact that it...
