    Waterfall feature leaking water

Picture one is the waterfall (shows where I removed the limestone). Picture two is the back. It's leaking where the top seam meets the back seem. Picture three is the side. Leaking the same place. Rather take out the old waterfall if anyone has any ideas on how to epoxy, glue, weld- fix the...

    Waterfall feature leaking water

I have a saltwater pool with a built in waterfall that appears to be made out of PVC and embedded in limestone rock wall. I’ve demolished the rock wall down to the waterfall feature and have found it is leaking at the top seams of the waterfall body where the top joins to the side Of the...

Supplement SWG with chlorine tabs to extend SWG life

In addition to my SWG cell I also add bleach everyday. This way I can run the cell fewer hours and still maintain the chlorine ppm I need. If I need to shock I always use bleach too.

    Pool Equipment Housing/Enclosure or Covering

I've though about building a little cover over the pool and cleaner pumps as they are in the sun most of the day. I wonder how many people have done this?

    Hayward vs Jandy Pool Heater

I just ordered a 399K BTU Raypak 406A cupronickel natural gas heater to replace my 13 year old Laars 400 LT that had seen better days. This forum is what helped me make my decision to go with the Raypak and not Hayward.

    Polaris Feed Hose Too Stiff???

I replaced mine after 10 years. Comparing the old hose to the new one was like day and night. The new hose is much more flexible. My cleaner now covers the entire pool where before it did not.

    Pool Light Bulbs...

I put a 90 watt equivalent LED bulb from Home Depot in my main pool light over a year ago. I think it cost around $20.00. Still working just fine. As long as it fits the fixture it will work. If light output is your main concern you might want to stick with the 400 watt pool light. For me though...

Anyone Tried This LED Pool Light?

I actually put in an LED light I bought from Home Depot a year ago. I think it is 75 or 90 watt equivalent. Still works great. It's not as bright as the original 400 watt light but I like it better.

Heater Temperature Reading Does not Match Actual Water Temperature.

My 10 year old Jandy LT400 would heat the spa to 90F degress (it was set to 102F) and then stop heating. The fan and the pool pump kept going but the heat would not come back on. If I would shut everything down and do a restart then it would continue heating to 94F and stop heating again. I...

    Pentair Legend Cleaner Hose Replacement

The Polaris feed and sweep hose went on and work just fine. I ended up trimming the sweep hose a bit as it was longer than the old Legend sweep hose. The cost difference on the feed hose was about $45 less and the sweep hose was about $5 less. I did end reusing my old wall pressure relief valve...

Pump Tripping Breaker - Wiring Issue?

Two separate times my old pump would shut off and then restart on it's own. The first time a little lizard got in the motor and shorted the contacts. The second time a few years later the pump was actually on it's way out and would overheat (bearing failure). I ended up replacing the old pump...

    Pentair Legend Cleaner Hose Replacement

I went ahead and ordered a Polaris G5 feed hose assembly and a Polaris pool cleaner sweep hose. I'll let everyone know if and how they work when they arrive. They are quite a bit less costly than the Pentair products.

    Pentair Legend Cleaner Hose Replacement

I've got a ten year old Pentair Legend cleaner. Other than replacing items such as swivels and floats it has worked well over the years. I have noticed both the sweep and feed line hoses are now getting really stiff. Going on line I see they want a "platinum" price for the feed line assembly...

Laars 400LT Natural Gas Spa Heater Shutting Off Too Soon

I've got an in ground pool and spa that is nine years old. Both are heated by a Laars 400LT natural gas heater. Yesterday, when I tried to heat the spa for the first time since last winter it fired up fine, ran about 40 minutes until the water reached about 90-92F then shut off. There were no...

Builders think I am crazy for asking about bleach ... help!

We live in the Houston area and have been using bleach along with our SWG for the past three years. Since then our pool has been crystal clear. Bottom line is it works. It also makes it easier to maintain your pool and costs less than all the chemicals the pool supply stores try and sell you.

    Water Temperature Effect on Testing

On my salt water pool my ppm of salt seems to increase as the temperature drops. I read the salt ppm from my panel. it went from 3100 ppm to 3300 ppm in the last couple of weeks as the water temp has dropped from the low 70's to the mid 50's.

I get my 8.25% bleach at either Home Depot or Walmart. It's $2.98/gallon down here in Houston. Pool water is crystal clear.

    Salinity question

My Hayward SWG works when the pool salt percentage level is between 2700-3400 ppm. Anything above or below that and it will shut off to protect itself. I think the 70% percent you think is the salinity level control is really the setting for how long the SWG cell is on. If you are in fact...

Calcium Hardness, can you lower it without replacing the water?

Agree rainwater harvesting. I have two drains off of my roof set up so I can filter out the big particle and route the rainwater right into my pool. Even with a half in of rain I can fill my pool a good 1" or 2" with both drains connected. Last year I only had to add tap water two or three times...

Issues with gas heater, in-line chlorinator

On my Laars heater the high and low temperature switches have had to be replaced a couple of times. The first time I called a service technician out and a $140.00 and a few minutes he replaced the switch. After that I have replaced them myself. They seem to last about three years or so. if your...

I've got a Laars 400LT Pool heater. A couple of weeks ago we were heating our spa and the heater stopped working when the spa water hit 93F. The cutoff is is 101F. When I tried it again today, I do hear a click and the water pressure switch flashes on the control panel. other than that there is...
