Banging noise from heater (on) but….

Yes, at 3000rpm I saw a lot more water came out and that was when it stopped making noise. thx

Banging noise from heater (on) but….

The waterfall was on and off, made no difference. It’s completely independent, running from another pump. The heater is Hayward H400 series.

Banging noise from heater (on) but….

just tested With 3000rpm and it works fine. Thx for the suggestion. I didnt know it takes that much flow for the heater to work properly. I thought Á long as the ”normal” light is on, it’s good to go. my filter is Pentair Clean and Clear+ 420. Will add to my signature. Thx

Banging noise from heater (on) but….

There is no heater bypass valve. The pump is EC-011028. The noise and the shake is from the intake pipe of the heater (red arrow). If I increase the rpm but the spa jets still restrict the flow will it make a difference? I will certainly try. Oh, forgot to mention I cleaned the filter too...

Banging noise from heater (on) but….

It happened only when I diverted the return to the spa jets. I realized the 3 possibilities are the low gas pressure, bad pressure switch and low water flow. But since it only happened when I diverted the return flow to the spa jets I think it must be something wrong with the water flow. It...

Air in filter tank when running low speed

yeah, I should look at the diverter valve. I haven’t done any maintenance on it for 20+ yrs because it’s body seems to be submerged in the water and I am not sure how. It’s the Ortega valve thx

Air in filter tank when running low speed

leak from suction side can cause losing prime when not pumping too, right? strangely, it doesn’t suck in air at higher speed given the plug is tight, so is the lid with newer gasket. I do a valve to divert water either from the pool or spa or both going to the pump. It’s set to pull 100% from...

Air in filter tank when running low speed

We’ll, that didn’t do much. It’s still sucks in air at low speed, and loses prime slowly at rest. I replaced the plug’s oring with one from HD, 11/16 od 1/2 id, added thread sealant but it still didn’t help. There is no water leak to outside anywhere while the pump is running so I assume it’s...

Air in filter tank when running low speed

yes, that makes sense. I didn’t think of it. Actually, I always do a final turn to close the lid after turning on high speed and there’s always more room to turn. Just went out and check to find the drain plug quite loose. This explains why dirty filters stop or reduce the problem, less...

Air in filter tank when running low speed

would higher speed pull even more air if there is a leak from the basket? Instead it stops the problem. I did lube the basket lid and will check the drain plug.

Air in filter tank when running low speed

Thx for your response. Yes, I always purge out the air after opening the system for any reason. when running low speed, if I open the filter tank valve, either water or air come out. I see bubbles in the pump basket with both low and high speed. At low speed (1200 rpm)water level stay below...

Air in filter tank when running low speed

I changed to Pentair variable speed and run 1200 rpm 14 hrs/day to save energy. Then as soon as I cleaned the cartridges I got a lot of ait in the filter tank every day. The gauge shows very low pressure like 2 or 3, with or without the air. Running with 2200 rpm has no problem. I know...

    Is it thermistor related?

The pic was taken at 11am yesterday after 17 hrs of 100% chlorination , and the pump stopped at noon. The pump was back on at 10pm at 75% and when I checked at 11:30pm it was generating normally but with flashing low salt and check cell lights (just cleaned the cell a few weeks ago). This...

No chlorine from swg after installing Pentair Intelliflo VS

Yes, I was gonna add that. I am running 100% to test and bubbles are always there.

    It shows normal operation, ”generating”

No chlorine from swg after installing Pentair Intelliflo VS

Prior to the new vs pump My pool was running 7 hrs/day at 25% output (winter) from a full speed (3400rpm) and I got enough fc of 5ppm. Since installing the new vs pump my fc is consistent at zero. I’m running 1500rpm at 50% both pump and swg 9 hr/day. I read that that the rpm doesn’t matter...

    Advices needed for new pump

Thank you for your input. I just spent the last 3 hrs reading and I think I’ll go with the Intelliflo 3hp (11056 or 011028). The Superflo ( directly replace Hayward pump) costs almost the same and the dimensions is definitely not a drop-in replacement. 8 speed is a plus.

    Advices needed for new pump

What about the (342001) Superflo VS? It’s rated at 1.5 hp? Only 3 speed at 1400, 2200 and 3000 rpm but seems like both the 2200 and 3000 will work with my KK (right now 1700 is too weak and 3475 is too high). I don’t mind spending more for the other 2 if they are reliable and more efficient...

    Advices needed for new pump

Here are some pics. Nothing unsual. The Yellow timer is for both the pump and the Aquarite. The other timer is for the waterfall pump. Isn’t 3hp too much? I even think 1.5 is already a bit too much. What’s the difference between 01156 and 01128 beside the 56 can adjust the flow...

    Advices needed for new pump

Currently, Pentair Whisperflo 1.5 hp 2 speed (wfds-6) but Highspeed won’t start on its own. Opened up the motor to check and also changed capacitor without success. I am thinking of going with variable speed for the following reason: 1. Low speed is too weak to run the KK, and high speed, I...
