Can I add powdered stabilizer through inline feeder?

Hello, all. Remembered I mentioned I’d post back some numbers here… I had overshot my CYA target with the stabilizer addition, but some water addition (rain + water added after fixing what was hopefully the only source of a slow leak) has the CYA settled in at 40. Ph and ta dropped a bit from...

Can I add powdered stabilizer through inline feeder?

Hello. I didn’t really need to squeeze it. The power from the jet looked to get it all out in a few hours. Didn’t see any residue on the floor by the jet, so it seems that it did disperse as planned. I’ll take some readings a little later and report back on the levels.

Can I add powdered stabilizer through inline feeder?

Thanks for the help, all. I went out to check on the sock last night and it was dissolving pretty quickly since I had my pump on pretty high. Not sure if it was supposed to be dispensed so quickly, but so far so good on the readings. cya is 41. ph/ta was lowered, which I just added some...

Can I add powdered stabilizer through inline feeder?

Hello TFPers. I have an in-line chlorine feeder that I use at the beginning of the season for trichlor application to pool until my CYA levels reach the 35-40 range. I am out of trichlor pucks, but have powdered stabilizer that I want to use to get my CYA levels up. Any issues using the sock...

    SuperFlo VS not getting power

Hello everyone. My Pentair SuperFlo VS stopped working at the end of last season. It's not receiving power. I'm using 110 for it. I troubleshot by plugging into different outlets, but it's dead. I'm trying to figure out exactly how I can diagnose the issue and if I can fix it myself. I...

Closing above ground pool: need to blow out main drain??

Hey New Dude. Thanks for your help on this. Wound up closing last week, although not sure it was the right move with unseasonably high temps near 80 this weekend here in VT! Maybe I hold out until Oct next year. I was spending about $10 / day keeping the heater on, which seemed wasteful, so...

Closing above ground pool: need to blow out main drain??

Thanks Newdude. It's a flex hose and there is a shutoff valve on it. Attached is a picture of the skimmer with the main drain attached to it. The blue shutoff valve is on the main drain line. I plan to disconnect it from the skimmer, pop the shop vac on exhaust through there and close the valve...

Closing above ground pool: need to blow out main drain??

What's all? Thanks for the feedback. UPDATE: I am going to use a pillow. Turns out I still have one left and read some stories about expanding ice busting some pools, so not going to risk that. Hopefully it lasts long enough to provide protection. I am going to try to blow out the main drain...

    Post format / Question Etiquette

Sounds good, Splash. Thank you for the response. Just read the Forum rules post about links. I'm definitely not trying to sell any products, just a pool owner trying to strike the right balance of fun, max life, and cost efficiency with my pool. If I'm going to post any links that mention...

    Post format / Question Etiquette

Hi all. I'm new to the site, got my first post in a few days ago. I have learned a lot already and really appreciate the site and the forums. Before I post more, I have a few questions about how to go about it. -What's the preferred method to ask a bunch of questions, one post or multiple? I'm...

pH , aeration, and a new heat pump

Thanks Dave, Jim My pool is 7200 gallons (12x20x4 above ground). For chlorination, I am using a combo of trichlor pucks in an inline chlorinator and liquid shock (10% sodium hypochlorite). I'd say probably about 50/50 usage between the 2, with using the trichlor more as CYA levels decrease. I...

pH , aeration, and a new heat pump

Hello all, I had a new heat pump installed at the end of May. I've been keeping a solar cover on when not in use to try to keep the heat pump efficient. My pH seems to dropping pretty consistently to a 6.8 - 7.0 level not too long after I raise it, which I've done with both soda ash at times...
