Leaking Jacuzzi - need help finding the correct sealant

Hello, I am helping a friend with a leak on his waterfall jacuzzi, I was going to use sikaflex to seal it but after reading up a bit, it is not recommended to have the sika under the waterline because it is not really chlorine resistant and I would like it to last so now I am thinking of using...

    Pool/Spa return tied together?

Thank you, I think I'll just swap out the existing check valve, lower cost, and hopefully resolves the draining spa plus if for some reason he forgets to leave the spa return open it won't cause issues down the road. Only concern I have is there doesn't look like a lot of flex available to fit...

    Omg what did I do

I could be wrong but it looks like all the suction valves are closed in the image below. The red lines indicate which way the valves should be pointing to be open. This could be why you had a hard time priming. Also check the basket for black plastic debris. Worst case you broke the valve...

    Pool/Spa return tied together?

Helping a buddy fix his plumbing. On the return there is a section of pipe that connects the two and with the return set to pool, water still goes to the spa. There is a leak at what appears to be a check valve (circled in blue) and I need to repair it. Does that loop have to be there or...

SLAM Advice - CYA dropped significantly and gopher destroyed filter

I have a backwash valve but don't have a manual vacuum only the kreepy crawley, I'll clean out the filters after the slam. I did put one bag 1lb of shock last night and it is 75% better now. I'll follow through with the slam next week and keep it chlorinated until then to help minimize the...

SLAM Advice - CYA dropped significantly and gopher destroyed filter

Over the winter with all the rains we lost a huge amount of CYA went from 50 to 0 black dot test filled all the way up still visible. It's the first time I've measured in about 6 months since the water was always looking good and I had automated the pump and SWG so I didn't pay much attention...

Filter Advice - current Nautilus 72sq ft just broke

Hello, I have a nautilus 72 that just broke at the upper pipe junction (where it attaches to the backwash valve). The cost of a new pipe and bulkhead fittings is close to the $450 range assuming I can even find the parts in stock. I haven't tried looking to see if there is a diy solution yet...

Can I repair a plastic skimmer wall?

thanks, yeah, when people are in the pool or its really windy, the water gets up over the top of the skimmer plastic. I had a small crack there before the coons broke it off and was going to fix it eventually but now it's more urgent. I bought some atlas pool putty a month ago to fix the crack...

Can I repair a plastic skimmer wall?

We had an infestation of racoons and they opened my skimmer cover and broke the plastic skimmer wall to get to some bugs. I'm wondering if anyone has repaired something like this of if there are any ideas I could explore? The last resort is breaking the concrete to install a new one I can only...

How often should I have to vacuum?

This is a great question, If you are using pucks to chlorinate, your CYA may be through the roof causing you to need more FC to maintain the pool. I had this problem years ago and since have switched to liquid, then upgraded to a SWG last year. Have you checked your CYA levels recently...

    Is this normal?

I've never heard of this, In all the years of owning a pool the DE has always been stuck to the filters, even on new filters. When I do a cleanout they are caked and nothing on the bottom inside of the filter except for a small amount of heavy sand. Wouldn't this defeat the purpose of DE? If...

Is it ok to plug one of my skimmers?

Yes both have weirs but not much is going in besides a couple little things but there is considerably more on the surface, maybe the new pump running at 2000rpm isn't enough to create flow. There is usually a breeze blowing in the opposite direction of the skimmers throughout the day which...

How often should I have to vacuum?

How often do you brush the pool? I recommend at least once a week then vacuum as needed. When I was manual vacuuming I could go a couple weeks in between, Now I have an automatic vacuum that runs whenever the pump is on. Also regarding the time the pump is on. I only ran mine for 3-4 hours...

Is it ok to plug one of my skimmers?

no dedicated port for the vacuum, I plan to vacuum one day a week and the other days just run the one skimmer. With 2 it doesn't pull anything in so hoping with one it is able to move more of the surface. I have been skimming into the Spa but there is a lot of fine on top and the net doesn't...

Is it ok to plug one of my skimmers?

Recently installed a variable speed pump. I have 2 skimmers, 1 has the creepy crawly in it and the other is open, but with this new pump, if I have both open, the creepy doesn't have enough power to move unless I have the pump on a higher speed. When on the lower speeds (2400 or lower) it...
